C’est moi qui vous donnerai un langage et une sagesse 

PEE: Première Lecture Daniel 5, 1-6.13-14.16-17.23-28 

« Soudain on vit apparaître les doigts d’une main d’homme qui se mirent à écrire »  

En ces jours-là, le roi Balthazar donna un somptueux festin pour les grands du royaume au nombre de mille, et il se mit à boire du vin en leur présence. Excité par le vin, il fit apporter les vases d’or et d’argent que son père Nabucodonosor avait enlevés au temple de Jérusalem ; il voulait y boire, avec ses grands, ses épouses et ses concubines. On apporta donc les vases d’or enlevés du Temple, de la maison de Dieu à Jérusalem, et le roi, ses grands, ses épouses et ses concubines s’en servirent pour boire.  Après avoir bu, ils entonnèrent la louange de leurs dieux d’or et d’argent, de bronze et de fer, de bois et de pierre.  Soudain on vit apparaître, en face du candélabre, les doigts d’une main d’homme qui se mirent à écrire sur la paroi de la salle du banquet royal. Lorsque le roi vit cette main qui écrivait, il changea de couleur, son esprit se troubla, il fut pris de tremblement, et ses genoux s’entrechoquèrent......

Évangile selon saint Luc 21, 12-19 Par votre persévérance vous garderez votre vie

RC: En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à ses disciples : « On portera la main sur vous et l’on vous persécutera ; on vous livrera aux synagogues et aux prisons, on vous fera comparaître devant des rois et des gouverneurs, à cause de mon nom. Cela vous amènera à rendre témoignage. Mettez-vous donc dans l’esprit que vous n’avez pas à vous préoccuper de votre défense. C’est moi qui vous donnerai un langage et une sagesse à laquelle tous vos adversaires ne pourront ni résister ni s’opposer. Vous serez livrés même par vos parents, vos frères, votre famille et vos amis, et ils feront mettre à mort certains d’entre vous. Vous serez détestés de tous, à cause de mon nom. Mais pas un cheveu de votre tête ne sera perdu. C’est par votre persévérance que vous garderez votre vie. »

Mon Père qui es aux cieux, mon Dieu, je te rends la gloire et la louange. Père, guide mes actions. Que mes voies soient agréables à tes yeux. Père, défends-moi de mes ennemis, de fausses accusations. Père, donne-moi la sagesse pour guider mes pas et les paroles de ma bouche. Rends-moi résolu dans ma croyance en ta bonté et ta suprématie.

Jésus, mon Maître aimant, j’ai confiance en toi. Seigneur, tu as dit pas un cheveu ne sera perdu si je te suis. Sois avec moi, Seigneur. Donne-moi l’esprit d’endurance comme je m’accroche à toi, mon Rédempteur.

King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for his noblemen; a thousand of them attended, and he drank wine in company with this thousand. As he sipped his wine, Belshazzar gave orders for the gold and silver vessels to be brought which his father Nebuchadnezzar had looted from the sanctuary in Jerusalem, so that the king, his noblemen, his wives and his singing women could drink out of them. The gold and silver vessels looted from the sanctuary of the Temple of God in Jerusalem were brought in, and the king, his noblemen, his wives and his singing women drank out of them. They drank their wine and praised their gods of gold and silver, of bronze and iron, of wood and stone. Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared, and began to write on the plaster of the palace wall, directly behind the lamp-stand; and the king could see the hand as it wrote. The king turned pale with alarm: his thigh-joints went slack and his knees began to knock..........

Gospel Luke 21:12-19 Your endurance will win you your lives

CDR: Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Men will seize you and persecute you; they will hand you over to the synagogues and to imprisonment, and bring you before kings and governors because of my name – and that will be your opportunity to bear witness. Keep this carefully in mind: you are not to prepare your defence, because I myself shall give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you will be put to death. You will be hated by all men on account of my name, but not a hair of your head will be lost. Your endurance will win you your lives.’

My Father in heaven, my God, I give you glory and praise. Father guide my actions. May my ways be pleasing in your sight Father. Father defend me from my enemies, from false accusation. Father give  me wisdom to guide my steps and the words of my mouth. Make me resolute in my belief and trust in your goodness and supremacy. 

Jesus my loving Master I trust in you. Lord you said none of my hair will be lost if I follow you. Be with me Lord. Give me the spirit of endurance as I hold on to you my Redeemer.

Vous avez eu une vision 

PEE: Lecture Daniel 2, 31-45  « Le dernier royaume pulvérisera

et anéantira tous les autres, mais lui-même subsistera à jamais » 

En ces jours-là, Daniel dit à Nabucodonosor : « Ô roi, voici ta vision : une énorme statue se dressait devant toi, une grande statue, extrêmement brillante et d’un aspect terrifiant. Elle avait la tête en or fin ; la poitrine et les bras, en argent ; le ventre et les cuisses, en bronze ;  ses jambes étaient en fer, et ses pieds, en partie de fer, en partie d’argile. Tu étais en train de regarder : soudain une pierre se détacha d’une montagne, sans qu’on y ait touché ; elle vint frapper les pieds de fer et d’argile de la statue et les pulvérisa.  Alors, furent pulvérisés tout ensemble le fer et l’argile, le bronze, l’argent et l’or ; ils devinrent comme la paille qui s’envole en été, au moment du battage : ils furent emportés par le vent sans laisser de traces. Quant à la pierre qui avait frappé la statue, elle devint un énorme rocher qui remplit toute la terre.  Voici le songe ; ......…..

Évangile selon saint Luc 21, 5-11 La destruction du Temple

RC: En ce temps-là, comme certains parlaient du Temple, des belles pierres et des ex-voto qui le décoraient, Jésus leur déclara : « Ce que vous contemplez, des jours viendront où il n’en restera pas pierre sur pierre : tout sera détruit. » Ils lui demandèrent : « Maître, quand cela arrivera-t-il ? Et quel sera le signe que cela est sur le point d’arriver ? » 

Jésus répondit : « Prenez garde de ne pas vous laisser égarer, car beaucoup viendront sous mon nom, et diront : “C’est moi”, ou encore : “Le moment est tout proche.” Ne marchez pas derrière eux ! Quand vous entendrez parler de guerres et de désordres, ne soyez pas terrifiés : il faut que cela arrive d’abord, mais ce ne sera pas aussitôt la fin. » Alors Jésus ajouta : « On se dressera nation contre nation, royaume contre royaume. Il y aura de grands tremblements de terre et, en divers lieux, des famines et des épidémies ; des phénomènes effrayants surviendront, et de grands signes venus du ciel. »

Mon Père qui es aux cieux, à toi toute la gloire et la louange éternelle. Père, que tes anges te louent et t’adorent. Que toutes tes créatures louent ta gloire éternelle. Père, Dieu de toute la création, je t’adore. Que ton Règne vienne. Que la paix soit en Jérusalem. Donne la paix à tes créatures, donne la paix à notre monde.

Seigneur Jésus, j’ai confiance en toi. Roi de la Paix, viens régner sur nos cœurs. Bienheureuse Vierge Marie, priez pour moi. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Anges de Dieu, priez pour moi. Mon Ange Gardien me protège. Guide-moi.

CI: Reading Daniel 2:31-45  Daniel interprets Nebuchadnezzar's dream

Daniel said to Nebuchadnezzar, ‘You have had a vision, O king; this is what you saw: a statue, a great statue of extreme brightness, stood before you, terrible to see. The head of this statue was of fine gold, its chest and arms were of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet part iron, part earthenware. While you were gazing, a stone broke away, untouched by any hand, and struck the statue, struck its feet of iron and earthenware and shattered them. And then, iron and earthenware, bronze, silver, gold all broke into small pieces as fine as chaff on the threshing-floor in summer. The wind blew them away, leaving not a trace behind. And the stone that had struck the statue grew into a great mountain, filling the whole earth. This was the dream; now we will explain to the king what it means......

Gospel Luke 21:5-11 The destruction of the Temple foretold

CDR: When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework and votive offerings, Jesus said, ‘All these things you are staring at now – the time will come when not a single stone will be left on another: everything will be destroyed.’ And they put to him this question: ‘Master,’ they said ‘when will this happen, then, and what sign will there be that this is about to take place?’ 

‘Take care not to be deceived,’ he said ‘because many will come using my name and saying, “I am he” and, “The time is near at hand.” Refuse to join them. And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened, for this is something that must happen but the end is not so soon.’ Then he said to them, ‘Nation will fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes and plagues and famines here and there; there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.’

My Father in heaven, to you be glory and eternal praise. Father let your Angels praise and worship  you. Let all your creatures praise your eternal glory. Father God of all creation I worship you. May your Kingdom come. Peace be upon Jerusalem. Give peace to your creatures, give peace to our world.

Lord Jesus I trust in you. King of Peace, come rule our hearts. Blessed Virgin Mary pray for me. Saint Joseph pray for me. Angels of God pray for me. My Angel Guardian protect me. Guide me.

Évangile Luc 21, 1-4 Elle a mis tout ce qu’elle avait pour vivre

En ce temps-là, comme Jésus enseignait dans le Temple, levant les yeux, il vit les gens riches qui mettaient leurs offrandes dans le Trésor. Il vit aussi une veuve misérable y mettre deux petites pièces de monnaie. Alors il déclara : « En vérité, je vous le dis : cette pauvre veuve a mis plus que tous les autres. Car tous ceux-là, pour faire leur offrande, ont pris sur leur superflu mais elle, elle a pris sur son indigence : elle a mis tout ce qu’elle avait pour vivre. »

CI: First Reading Daniel 1:1-6,8-20 

Daniel and his companions are trained to be the king's servants in Babylon

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched on Jerusalem and besieged it. The Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hands, with some of the furnishings of the Temple of God. He took them away to the land of Shinar, and stored the sacred vessels in the treasury of his own gods. 

The king ordered Ashpenaz, his chief eunuch, to select from the Israelites a certain number of boys of either royal or noble descent; they had to be without any physical defect, of good appearance, trained in every kind of wisdom, well-informed, quick at learning, suitable for service in the palace of the king. Ashpenaz himself was to teach them the language and literature of the Chaldaeans. The king assigned them a daily allowance of food and wine from his own royal table. They were to receive an education lasting for three years, after which they were expected to be fit for the king’s society. Among them were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, who were Judaeans. Daniel, who was most anxious not to defile himself with the food and wine from the royal table, begged the chief eunuch to spare him this defilement; and by the grace of God Daniel met goodwill and sympathy on the part of the chief eunuch. But he warned Daniel, ‘I am afraid of my lord the king: he has assigned you food and drink, and if he sees you looking thinner in the face than the other boys of your age, my head will be in danger with the king because of you.’ At this Daniel turned to the guard whom the chief eunuch had assigned to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. He said, ‘Please allow your servants a ten days’ trial, during which we are given only vegetables to eat and water to drink. You can then compare our looks with those of the boys who eat the king’s food; go by what you see, and treat your servants accordingly.’ The man agreed to do what they asked and put them on ten days’ trial. 

When the ten days were over they looked and were in better health than any of the boys who had eaten their allowance from the royal table; so the guard withdrew their allowance of food and the wine they were to drink, and gave them vegetables. And God favoured these four boys with knowledge and intelligence in everything connected with literature, and in wisdom; while Daniel had the gift of interpreting every kind of vision and dream. When the period stipulated by the king for the boys’ training was over, the chief eunuch presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. The king conversed with them, and among all the boys found none to equal Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. So they became members of the king’s court, and on whatever point of wisdom or information he might question them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his entire kingdom.

CDR: As Jesus looked up, he saw rich people putting their offerings into the treasury; then he happened to notice a poverty-stricken widow putting in two small coins, and he said, ‘I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than any of them; for these have all contributed money they had over, but she from the little she had has put in all she had to live on.’

My God, my Father, to you all glory and praise for evermore. My Father I ask for your favor and gifts of knowledge and intelligence. Give me wisdom. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Give me a generous spirit.

Solennité du Christ le Roi

Première Lecture  Ézékiel 34, 11-12.15-17

« Toi, mon troupeau, voici que je vais juger entre brebis et brebis »  

PEE: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu : Voici que moi-même, je m’occuperai de mes brebis, et je veillerai sur elles.  Comme un berger veille sur les brebis de son troupeau quand elles sont dispersées, ainsi je veillerai sur mes brebis, et j’irai les délivrer dans tous les endroits où elles ont été dispersées un jour de nuages et de sombres nuées.  C’est moi qui ferai paître mon troupeau, et c’est moi qui le ferai reposer, – oracle du Seigneur Dieu. La brebis perdue, je la chercherai ; l’égarée, je la ramènerai. Celle qui est blessée, je la panserai. Celle qui est malade, je lui rendrai des forces. Celle qui est grasse et vigoureuse, je la garderai, je la ferai paître selon le droit.     Et toi, mon troupeau – ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu –, voici que je vais juger entre brebis et brebis, entre les béliers et les boucs.

Deuxième Lecture 1 Corinthiens 15, 20-26.28  

« Il remettra le pouvoir royal à Dieu le Père, et ainsi, Dieu sera tout en tous »

Frères,  le Christ est ressuscité d’entre les morts, lui, premier ressuscité parmi ceux qui se sont endormis.  Car, la mort étant venue par un homme, c’est par un homme aussi que vient la résurrection des morts.  En effet, de même que tous les hommes meurent en Adam, de même c’est dans le Christ que tous recevront la vie, mais chacun à son rang : en premier, le Christ,et ensuite, lors du retour du Christ, ceux qui lui appartiennent. Alors, tout sera achevé, quand le Christ remettra le pouvoir royal à Dieu son Père, après avoir anéanti, parmi les êtres célestes, toute Principauté, toute Souveraineté et Puissance. Car c’est lui qui doit régner jusqu’au jour où Dieu aura mis sous ses pieds tous ses ennemis. Et le dernier ennemi qui sera anéanti, c’est la mort.  Et, quand tout sera mis sous le pouvoir du Fils, lui-même se mettra alors sous le pouvoir du Père qui lui aura tout soumis, et ainsi, Dieu sera tout en tous.

Évangile Matthew 25,31-46   

« Il siégera sur son trône de gloire et séparera les hommes les uns des autres »

evangeli: En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à ses disciples : « Quand le Fils de l’homme viendra dans sa gloire, et tous les anges avec lui, alors il siégera sur son trône de gloire. Toutes les nations seront rassemblées devant lui ; il séparera les hommes les uns des autres, comme le berger sépare les brebis des boucs : il placera les brebis à sa droite, et les boucs à gauche. Alors le Roi dira à ceux qui seront à sa droite: ‘Venez, les bénis de mon Père, recevez en héritage le Royaume préparé pour vous depuis la fondation du monde. Car j’avais faim, et vous m’avez donné à manger ; j’avais soif, et vous m’avez donné à boire ; j’étais un étranger, et vous m’avez accueilli ; j’étais nu, et vous m’avez habillé ; j’étais malade, et vous m’avez visité ; j’étais en prison, et vous êtes venus jusqu’à moi !’ Alors les justes lui répondront : ‘Seigneur, quand est-ce que nous t’avons vu...?  tu avais donc faim, et nous t’avons nourri ? tu avais soif, et nous t’avons donné à boire ? tu étais un étranger, et nous t’avons accueilli ? tu étais nu, et nous t’avons habillé ? tu étais malade ou en prison... Quand sommes-nous venus jusqu’à toi ?’ Et le Roi leur répondra : ‘Amen, je vous le dis : chaque fois que vous l’avez fait à l’un de ces plus petits de mes frères, c’est à moi que vous l’avez fait.

Alors il dira à ceux qui seront à sa gauche : ‘Allez-vous-en loin de moi, vous les maudits, dans le feu éternel préparé pour le diable et ses anges. Car j’avais faim, et vous ne m’avez pas donné à manger ; j’avais soif, et vous ne m’avez pas donné à boire ; j’étais un étranger, et vous ne m’avez pas accueilli ; j’étais nu, et vous ne m’avez pas habillé ; j’étais malade et en prison, et vous ne m’avez pas visité.’ Alors ils répondront, eux aussi : ‘Seigneur, quand t’avons-nous vu avoir faim, avoir soif, être nu, étranger, malade ou en prison, sans nous mettre à ton service ?  Il leur répondra : ‘Amen, je vous le dis : chaque fois que vous ne l’avez pas fait à l’un de ces plus petits, c’est à moi que vous ne l’avez pas fait. 

Et ils s’en iront, ceux-ci au châtiment éternel, et les justes, à la vie éternelle.

Père céleste, ton Royaume régnera éternellement. Père, tu es l’Ancien des Jours. Tu règnes pour toute l’éternité.

Seigneur Jésus-Christ, tu es notre Berger et notre Roi. Nous sommes ton troupeau. Seigneur, garde-nous dans ton bercail. Ne nous laissez pas nous égarer. Seigneur, conduis-nous, guide-nous, rends-nous disposés à te suivre. Christ, tu es le vrai Berger. Tu es notre Seigneur et notre Roi. Que ton règne vienne, Seigneur. Jésus, j’ai confiance en toi.

Solemnity of Christ the King

CI: First Reading Ezekiel 34:11-12,15-17 The Lord will judge between sheep and sheep

The Lord says this: I am going to look after my flock myself and keep all of it in view. As a shepherd keeps all his flock in view when he stands up in the middle of his scattered sheep, so shall I keep my sheep in view. I shall rescue them from wherever they have been scattered during the mist and darkness. I myself will pasture my sheep, I myself will show them where to rest – it is the Lord who speaks. I shall look for the lost one, bring back the stray, bandage the wounded and make the weak strong. I shall watch over the fat and healthy. I shall be a true shepherd to them. 

As for you, my sheep, the Lord says this: I will judge between sheep and sheep, between rams and he-goats.

Second Reading 1 Corinthians 15:20-26,28

Christ will hand over the kingdom to God the Father; so that God may be all in all

Christ has been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep. Death came through one man and in the same way the resurrection of the dead has come through one man. Just as all men die in Adam, so all men will be brought to life in Christ; but all of them in their proper order: Christ as the first-fruits and then, after the coming of Christ, those who belong to him. After that will come the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, having done away with every sovereignty, authority and power. For he must be king until he has put all his enemies under his feet and the last of the enemies to be destroyed is death, for everything is to be put under his feet. And when everything is subjected to him, then the Son himself will be subject in his turn to the One who subjected all things to him, so that God may be all in all.

Gospel Matthew 25:31-46 I was naked and you clothed me; sick, and you visited me

CDR: Jesus said to his disciples: ‘When the Son of Man comes in his glory, escorted by all the angels, then he will take his seat on his throne of glory. All the nations will be assembled before him and he will separate men one from another as the shepherd separates sheep from goats. He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left. 

‘Then the King will say to those on his right hand, “Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take for your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you made me welcome; naked and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me.” Then the virtuous will say to him in reply, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you; or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome; naked and clothe you; sick or in prison and go to see you?” And the King will answer, “I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me.” 

‘Next he will say to those on his left hand, “Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you never gave me food; I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink; I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, naked and you never clothed me, sick and in prison and you never visited me.” Then it will be their turn to ask, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or naked, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?” Then he will answer, “I tell you solemnly, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me.” 

‘And they will go away to eternal punishment, and the virtuous to eternal life.’

Maintenant je me rappelle le mal que j’ai fait

PEE: Première Lecture 1 Martyrs d’Israël  6, 1-13 

« Maintenant je me rappelle le mal que j’ai fait à Jérusalem : 

tous mes malheurs viennent de là, et voici que je meurs dans un profond chagrin »

En ces jours-là, le roi Antiocos parcourait le haut pays. Il apprit alors qu’il y avait en Perse une ville,  Élymaïs, fameuse par ses richesses, son argent et son or ;  son temple, extrêmement riche, contenait des casques en or, des cuirasses et des armes, laissés là par Alexandre, fils de Philippe et roi de Macédoine, qui régna le premier sur les Grecs. Antiocos arriva, et il tenta de prendre la ville et de la piller, mais il n’y réussit pas, parce que les habitants avaient été informés de son projet. Ils lui résistèrent et livrèrent bataille, si bien qu’il prit la fuite et battit en retraite, accablé de chagrin, pour retourner à Babylone. Il était encore en Perse quand on vint lui annoncer la déroute des troupes qui avaient pénétré en Judée ; Lysias, en particulier, qui avait été envoyé avec un important matériel, avait fait demi-tour devant les Juifs  ;ceux-ci s’étaient renforcés grâce aux armes, au matériel et au butin saisis sur les troupes qu’ils avaient battues ; ils avaient renversé l’Abomination qu’Antiocos avait élevée à Jérusalem sur l’autel ; enfin, ils avaient reconstruit comme auparavant de hautes murailles autour du sanctuaire et autour de la ville royale de Bethsour. Quand le roi apprit ces nouvelles, il fut saisi de frayeur et profondément ébranlé. Il s’écroula sur son lit et tomba malade sous le coup du chagrin, parce que les événements n’avaient pas répondu à son attente. Il resta ainsi pendant plusieurs jours, car son profond chagrin se renouvelait sans cesse. Lorsqu’il se rendit compte qu’il allait mourir, il appela tous ses amis et leur dit : « Le sommeil s’est éloigné de mes yeux ; l’inquiétude accable mon cœur,  et je me dis : À quelle profonde détresse en suis-je arrivé ? Dans quel abîme suis-je plongé maintenant ? J’étais bon et aimé au temps de ma puissance. Mais maintenant je me rappelle le mal que j’ai fait à Jérusalem : tous les objets d’argent et d’or qui s’y trouvaient, je les ai pris ; j’ai fait exterminer les habitants de la Judée sans aucun motif. Je reconnais que tous mes malheurs viennent de là, et voici que je meurs dans un profond chagrin sur une terre étrangère. »

Évangile selon saint Luc 20, 27-40 

Il n’est pas le Dieu des morts, mais des vivants. Tous, en effet, vivent pour lui

RC: En ce temps-là, quelques sadducéens – ceux qui soutiennent qu’il n’y a pas de résurrection – s’approchèrent de Jésus et l’interrogèrent : « Maître, Moïse nous a prescrit : Si un homme a un frère qui meurt en laissant une épouse mais pas d’enfant, il doit épouser la veuve pour susciter une descendance à son frère. Or, il y avait sept frères : le premier se maria et mourut sans enfant ; de même le deuxième, puis le troisième épousèrent la veuve, et ainsi tous les sept : ils moururent sans laisser d’enfants. Finalement la femme mourut aussi. Eh bien, à la résurrection, cette femme-là, duquel d’entre eux sera-t-elle l’épouse, puisque les sept l’ont eue pour épouse ? »

Jésus leur répondit : « Les enfants de ce monde prennent femme et mari. Mais ceux qui ont été jugés dignes d’avoir part au monde à venir et à la résurrection d’entre les morts ne prennent ni femme ni mari, car ils ne peuvent plus mourir : ils sont semblables aux anges, ils sont enfants de Dieu et enfants de la résurrection. Que les morts ressuscitent, Moïse lui-même le fait comprendre dans le récit du buisson ardent, quand il appelle le Seigneur le Dieu d’Abraham, Dieu d’Isaac, Dieu de Jacob. Il n’est pas le Dieu des morts, mais des vivants. Tous, en effet, vivent pour lui. » 

Alors certains scribes prirent la parole pour dire : « Maître, tu as bien parlé. » Et ils n’osaient plus l’interroger sur quoi que ce soit.

Mon Dieu, mon Père, je me réjouirai de ton aide salvifique. Je te louerai, Seigneur, de tout mon cœur. Je raconterai toutes tes merveilles. Je me réjouirai en toi et je serai dans l’allégresse. Je chanterai des psaumes en ton nom Très-Haut. Béni soit Dieu à jamais. Tous vivent pour toi, Dieu, mon Père. Je te reconnais Dieu de mon père. Ancien des jours. Dieu des vivants, Roi éternel de gloire, Dieu Très-Haut.

Un cœur pénitent, Père, tu ne le mépriseras pas. Père, ne me porte pas en jugement, ne te souviens pas des péchés de ma jeunesse et de mes péchés à mesure que je vieillis. Pardonne-moi, Père. Que les malheurs ne m’atteignent pas. Enlève ma culpabilité et remplis-moi de ton Esprit Saint afin que je puisse vivre.

Seigneur Jésus-Christ, Roi de gloire, Prince de paix, j’ai confiance en toi. Vierge Marie, priez pour moi. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Archange Michel, défends-moi. Les anges de Dieu viennent à mon aide. Mon Ange Gardien prie pour moi.

Priez le Saint Rosaire : Jésus-Christ est le Roi de l’Univers. Sa Mère, la Bienheureuse Vierge Marie, est la Mère de notre Roi. Elle est notre Reine. Seigneur Jésus, tu es mon rédempteur ; Sainte Vierge Mère, je vous salue. Je t’aime Seigneur, mon Maître, je t’aime Sainte Mère.

Now I remember the wrong

CI: First Reading 1 Maccabees 6:1-13 'I remember the wrong I did in Jerusalem'

King Antiochus was making his way across the upper provinces; he had heard that in Persia there was a city called Elymais, renowned for its riches, its silver and gold, and its very wealthy temple containing golden armour, breastplates and weapons, left there by Alexander son of Philip, the king of Macedon, the first to reign over the Greeks. He therefore went and attempted to take the city and pillage it, but without success, since the citizens learnt of his intention, and offered him a stiff resistance, whereupon he turned about and retreated, disconsolate, in the direction of Babylon. But while he was still in Persia news reached him that the armies that had invaded the land of Judah had been defeated, and that Lysias in particular had advanced in massive strength, only to be forced to turn and flee before the Jews; these had been strengthened by the acquisition of arms, supplies and abundant spoils from the armies they had cut to pieces; they had overthrown the abomination he had erected over the altar in Jerusalem, and had encircled the sanctuary with high walls as in the past, and had fortified Bethzur, one of his cities. When the king heard this news he was amazed and profoundly shaken; he threw himself on his bed and fell into a lethargy from acute disappointment, because things had not turned out for him as he had planned. And there he remained for many days, subject to deep and recurrent fits of melancholy, until he understood that he was dying. Then summoning all his Friends, he said to them, ‘Sleep evades my eyes, and my heart is cowed by anxiety. I have been asking myself how I could have come to such a pitch of distress, so great a flood as that which now engulfs me – I who was so generous and well-loved in my heyday. But now I remember the wrong I did in Jerusalem when I seized all the vessels of silver and gold there, and ordered the extermination of the inhabitants of Judah for no reason at all. This, I am convinced, is why these misfortunes have overtaken me, and why I am dying of melancholy in a foreign land.’

Gospel Luke 20:27-40 In God all men are alive

CDR: Some Sadducees – those who say that there is no resurrection – approached Jesus and they put this question to him, ‘Master, we have it from Moses in writing, that if a man’s married brother dies childless, the man must marry the widow to raise up children for his brother. Well then, there were seven brothers. The first, having married a wife, died childless. The second and then the third married the widow. And the same with all seven, they died leaving no children. Finally the woman herself died. Now, at the resurrection, to which of them will she be wife since she had been married to all seven?’ 

Jesus replied, ‘The children of this world take wives and husbands, but those who are judged worthy of a place in the other world and in the resurrection from the dead do not marry because they can no longer die, for they are the same as the angels, and being children of the resurrection they are sons of God. And Moses himself implies that the dead rise again, in the passage about the bush where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is God, not of the dead, but of the living; for to him all men are in fact alive.’ 

Some scribes then spoke up. ‘Well put, Master’ they said – because they would not dare to ask him any more questions.

My God, my Father I will rejoice in your saving help. I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart. I will recount all your wonders. I will rejoice in you and be glad, and sing psalms to your name, O Most High. Blessed be God forever. In you God my Father all men are alive. I acknowledge you God of my fathers. Ancient of days. God of the living, Eternal King of Glory, Most High God.

A contrite heart Father you will not despise. Father do not bring me to judgement, do not recall the sins of my youth, and my sins as I advance in age. Forgive me Father. May misfortunes not overtake me. Remove my guilt and fill me with your Holy Spirit that I may live.

Lord Jesus Christ King of Glory, Prince of Peace I trust in you. Virgin Mary pray for me. Saint Joseph pray for me. Archangel Michael defend me. Ministering Angels of God come to my aid. My Angel Guardian pray for me.

Saints André Dung Lac et ses Compagnons, Martyrs

Premiere Lecture 1 Martyrs d’Israël 4, 36-37.52-59

 « Ils célébrèrent la dédicace de l’autel, en offrant, dans l’allégresse, des holocaustes »  

 

PEE: En ces jours-là, Judas et ses frères déclarèrent : « Voilà nos ennemis écrasés, montons purifier le Lieu saint et en faire la dédicace. »  Toute l’armée se rassembla, et ils montèrent à la montagne de Sion. 

 

Le vingt-cinquième jour du neuvième mois, de grand matin,  les prêtres offrirent le sacrifice prescrit par la Loi sur le nouvel autel qu’ils avaient construit. On fit la dédicace de l’autel au chant des hymnes, au son des cithares, des harpes et des cymbales. C’était juste l’anniversaire du jour où les païens l’avaient profané. Le peuple entier se prosterna la face contre terre pour adorer, puis ils bénirent le Ciel qui avait fait aboutir leur effort.  Pendant huit jours, ils célébrèrent la dédicace de l’autel, en offrant, dans l’allégresse, des holocaustes, des sacrifices de communion et d’action de grâce. Ils ornèrent la façade du Temple  de couronnes d’or et de boucliers, ils en restaurèrent les entrées et les salles et y replacèrent des portes.  Il y eut une grande allégresse dans le peuple, et l’humiliation infligée par les païens fut effacée.  Judas Maccabée décida, avec ses frères et toute l’assemblée d’Israël, que l’anniversaire de la dédicace de l’autel serait célébré pendant huit jours chaque année à cette date, dans la joie et l’allégresse.

Psaume : Nous célébrons ton nom glorieux, ô Seigneur

Évangile Luc 19, 45-48 « Ma maison sera une maison de prière,

vous en avez fait une caverne de bandits. »

 

RC: En ce temps-là, entré dans le Temple, Jésus se mit à en expulser les vendeurs. Il leur déclarait : « Il est écrit : Ma maison sera une maison de prière. Or vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de bandits. » Et il était chaque jour dans le Temple pour enseigner. Les grands prêtres et les scribes, ainsi que les notables, cherchaient à le faire mourir, mais ils ne trouvaient pas ce qu’ils pourraient faire ; en effet, le peuple tout entier, suspendu à ses lèvres, l’écoutait.

« Nous célébrons ton nom glorieux, ô Seigneur. Béni sois-tu, Seigneur, Dieu de notre père Israël, depuis les siècles et pour les siècles ! À toi, Seigneur, force et grandeur, éclat, victoire, majesté, tout, dans les cieux et sur la terre ! À toi, Seigneur, le règne, la primauté sur l’univers : la richesse et la gloire viennent de ta face !  C’est toi, le Maître de tout : dans ta main, force et puissance ; tout, par ta main, grandit et s’affermit. »  1 Chroniques 29 :10-12

Père céleste, mon Dieu, je me prosterne devant ton autel saint en adoration. Père, je t’adore, mon Dieu. Je me consacre à toi. Père, mon corps est le temple où habite l’Esprit Saint, purifie-moi. Sanctifie-moi.

Seigneur Jésus-Christ, j’ai confiance en toi. Béni soit Jésus dans la Très Sainte Eucharistie à l’autel. Vierge Marie, priez pour moi. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Saints André Dung Lac et ses Compagnons, prient pour moi.  Anges de Dieu, priez pour moi. Mon Ange Gardien prie pour moi.

You have turned God's house into a robbers' den

Reading 1 Maccabees 4:36-37,52-59 Judas and his brothers purify the sanctuary and dedicate it

CI: Judas and his brothers said, ‘Now that our enemies have been defeated, let us go up to purify the sanctuary and dedicate it.’ So they marshalled the whole army, and went up to Mount Zion. 

On the twenty-fifth of the ninth month, Chislev, in the year one hundred and forty-eight, they rose at dawn and offered a lawful sacrifice on the new altar of holocausts which they had made. The altar was dedicated, to the sound of zithers, harps and cymbals, at the same time of year and on the same day on which the pagans had originally profaned it. The whole people fell prostrate in adoration, praising to the skies him who had made them so successful. For eight days they celebrated the dedication of the altar, joyfully offering holocausts, communion sacrifices and thanksgivings. They ornamented the front of the Temple with crowns and bosses of gold, repaired the gates and the storerooms and fitted them with doors. There was no end to the rejoicing among the people, and the reproach of the pagans was lifted from them. Judas, with his brothers and the whole assembly of Israel, made it a law that the days of the dedication of the altar should be celebrated yearly at the proper season, for eight days beginning on the twenty-fifth of the month Chislev, with rejoicing and gladness.

Gospel Luke 19:45-48 You have turned God's house into a robbers' den

CDR: Jesus went into the Temple and began driving out those who were selling. ‘According to scripture,’ he said ‘my house will be a house of prayer. But you have turned it into a robbers’ den.’ 

He taught in the Temple every day. The chief priests and the scribes, with the support of the leading citizens, tried to do away with him, but they did not see how they could carry this out because the people as a whole hung on his words.

"We praise your glorious name, O Lord. Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of Israel our father, for ever, for ages unending. Yours, Lord, are greatness and power, and splendour and triumph and glory. All is yours, in heaven and on earth. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom, you are supreme over all. Both honour and riches come from you. You are the ruler of all, from your hand come strength and power, from your hand come greatness and might."  1 Chronicles 29:10-12

Heavenly Father, my God, I fall prostrate before your holy altar in adoration to you Father. I worship you my God as I dedicate myself to you. Father my body is the temple where the Holy Spirit dwells. Father purify me. Purify my spirit, make me holy. 

Lord Jesus Christ I trust in you. Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist in the Altar. Virgin Mary pray for me. Saint Joseph pray for me. Saints Andrew Dung Lac and his Companions, Martyrs pray for me. Angels of God pray for me. My Angel Guardian pray for me.
