Qui accusera ceux que Dieu a choisis ?

Première Lecture Genèse  22, 1-2.9-13.15-18 Le sacrifice de notre père Abraham   

En ces jours-là, Dieu mit Abraham à l’épreuve. Il lui dit : « Abraham ! » Celui-ci répondit : « Me voici ! » Dieu dit : « Prends ton fils, ton unique, celui que tu aimes, Isaac, va au pays de Moriah, et là tu l’offriras en holocauste sur la montagne que je t’indiquerai. »

Ils arrivèrent à l’endroit que Dieu avait indiqué. Abraham y bâtit l’autel et disposa le bois ; puis il lia son fils Isaac et le mit sur l’autel, par-dessus le bois. Abraham étendit la main et saisit le couteau pour immoler son fils. Mais l’ange du Seigneur l’appela du haut du ciel et dit : « Abraham ! Abraham ! » Il répondit : « Me voici ! » L’ange lui dit : « Ne porte pas la main sur le garçon ! Ne lui fais aucun mal ! Je sais maintenant que tu crains Dieu : tu ne m’as pas refusé ton fils, ton unique. » Abraham leva les yeux et vit un bélier retenu par les cornes dans un buisson. Il alla prendre le bélier et l’offrit en holocauste à la place de son fils. 

Du ciel, l’ange du Seigneur appela une seconde fois Abraham. Il déclara : « Je le jure par moi-même, oracle du Seigneur : parce que tu as fait cela, parce que tu ne m’as pas refusé ton fils, ton unique, je te comblerai de bénédictions, je rendrai ta descendance aussi nombreuse que les étoiles du ciel et que le sable au bord de la mer, et ta descendance occupera les places fortes de ses ennemis. Puisque tu as écouté ma voix, toutes les nations de la terre s’adresseront l’une à l’autre la bénédiction par le nom de ta descendance. »

Deuixème Lecture Romains 8,31b-34 Dieu n’a pas épargné son propre Fils

Frères, si Dieu est pour nous, qui sera contre nous ? Il n’a pas épargné son propre Fils, mais il l’a livré pour nous tous : comment pourrait-il, avec lui, ne pas nous donner tout ? Qui accusera ceux que Dieu a choisis ? Dieu est celui qui rend juste : alors, qui pourra condamner ? Le Christ Jésus est mort ; bien plus, il est ressuscité, il est à la droite de Dieu, il intercède pour nous.

Évangile Marc 9,2-10 Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé. Écoutez-le

Jésus prend avec lui Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et les emmène, eux seuls, à l’écart sur une haute montagne. Et il fut transfiguré devant eux. Ses vêtements devinrent resplendissants, d'une blancheur telle que personne sur terre ne peut obtenir une blancheur pareille. Élie leur apparut avec Moïse, et ils s'entretenaient avec Jésus.

Pierre alors prend la parole et dit à Jésus: «Rabbi, il est heureux que nous soyons ici!. Dressons donc trois tentes: une pour toi, une pour Moïse et une pour Élie». De fait, il ne savait que dire, tant était grande leur frayeur. Survint une nuée qui les couvrit de son ombre, et de la nuée une voix se fit entendre: «Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé. Écoutez-le». Soudain, regardant tout autour, ils ne virent plus que Jésus seul avec eux.

En descendant de la montagne, Jésus leur défendit de raconter à personne ce qu'ils avaient vu, avant que le Fils de l'homme soit ressuscité d'entre les morts. Et ils restèrent fermement attachés à cette consigne, tout en se demandant entre eux ce que voulait dire: «ressusciter d'entre les morts».

When God acquits, could anyone condemn?

First Reading Genesis 22:1-2,9-13,15-18 The sacrifice of Abraham, our father in faith

God put Abraham to the test. ‘Abraham, Abraham’ he called. ‘Here I am’ he replied. ‘Take your son,’ God said ‘your only child Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. There you shall offer him as a burnt offering, on a mountain I will point out to you.’ 

When they arrived at the place God had pointed out to him, Abraham built an altar there, and arranged the wood. Then he bound his son Isaac and put him on the altar on top of the wood. Abraham stretched out his hand and seized the knife to kill his son. 

But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven. ‘Abraham, Abraham’ he said. ‘I am here’ he replied. ‘Do not raise your hand against the boy’ the angel said. ‘Do not harm him, for now I know you fear God. You have not refused me your son, your only son.’ Then looking up, Abraham saw a ram caught by its horns in a bush. Abraham took the ram and offered it as a burnt-offering in place of his son. 

The angel of the Lord called Abraham a second time from heaven. ‘I swear by my own self – it is the Lord who speaks – because you have done this, because you have not refused me your son, your only son, I will shower blessings on you, I will make your descendants as many as the stars of heaven and the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants shall gain possession of the gates of their enemies. All the nations of the earth shall bless themselves by your descendants, as a reward for your obedience

Second Reading Romans 8:31-34 God did not spare his own Son

With God on our side who can be against us? Since God did not spare his own Son, but gave him up to benefit us all, we may be certain, after such a gift, that he will not refuse anything he can give. Could anyone accuse those that God has chosen? When God acquits, could anyone condemn? Could Christ Jesus? No! He not only died for us – he rose from the dead, and there at God’s right hand he stands and pleads for us./

Gospel Mark 9:2-10 This is my Son, the Beloved

Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain where they could be alone by themselves. There in their presence he was transfigured: his clothes became dazzlingly white, whiter than any earthly bleacher could make them. Elijah appeared to them with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. Then Peter spoke to Jesus: ‘Rabbi,’ he said ‘it is wonderful for us to be here; so let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ He did not know what to say; they were so frightened. And a cloud came, covering them in shadow; and there came a voice from the cloud, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to him.’ Then suddenly, when they looked round, they saw no one with them any more but only Jesus. 

As they came down from the mountain he warned them to tell no one what they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead. They observed the warning faithfully, though among themselves they discussed what ‘rising from the dead’ could mean.

Vous donc, vous serez parfaits comme votre Père céleste est parfait

Première Lecture Deutéronome 26,16-19 

Tu seras un peuple consacré au Seigneur ton Dieu 

Moïse disait au peuple d’Israël : « Aujourd’hui le Seigneur ton Dieu te commande de mettre en pratique ces décrets et ces ordonnances. Tu veilleras à les pratiquer de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme. 

Aujourd’hui tu as obtenu du Seigneur cette déclaration : lui sera ton Dieu ; toi, tu suivras ses chemins, tu garderas ses décrets, ses commandements et ses ordonnances, tu écouteras sa voix. Aujourd’hui le Seigneur a obtenu de toi cette déclaration : tu seras son peuple, son domaine particulier, comme il te l’a dit, tu devras garder tous ses commandements. Il te fera dépasser en prestige, renommée et gloire toutes les nations qu’il a faites, et tu seras un peuple consacré au Seigneur ton Dieu, comme il l’a dit. »

Évangile selon saint Matthieu 5, 43-48 Priez pour ceux qui vous persécutent

RC: En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à ses disciples : « Vous avez appris qu’il a été dit : Tu aimeras ton prochain et tu haïras ton ennemi. Eh bien ! moi, je vous dis : Aimez vos ennemis, et priez pour ceux qui vous persécutent, afin d’être vraiment les fils de votre Père qui est aux cieux ; car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants et sur les bons, il fait tomber la pluie sur les justes et sur les injustes. En effet, si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense méritez-vous ? Les publicains eux-mêmes n’en font-ils pas autant ? Et si vous ne saluez que vos frères, que faites-vous d’extraordinaire ? Les païens eux-mêmes n’en font-ils pas autant ? Vous donc, vous serez parfaits comme votre Père céleste est parfait. »

Père, heureux ceux suivent ta loi. Ta loi est parfaite. Tu est parfait. Tu es Saint Seigneur. Aide-moi, Père, comme je m'efforce d'obéir à ta loi. En tant qu'humain, c'est difficile, avec par ta grâce c’est possible. Donne-moi ton Esprit Saint, Seigneur, rends-moi parfait comme Toi, mon Père céleste, Seigneur, fais-moi connaître Ta voie, fais-moi marcher dans ta vérité.

Seigneur Jésus, j'ai confiance en toi. Seigneur, comment pourrais-je aimer mes ennemis et prier pour ceux qui me persécutent. En tant qu’humain, il est impossible d’aimer ceux qui me persécutent. Par Ta grâce, c’est possible. Vierge Marie, pleine de grâce, priez pour moi. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Les anges et les saints de Dieu prient pour moi, mon ange gardien prie pour moi.

You will be a people consecrated to the Lord

Moses said to the people: ‘The Lord your God today commands you to observe these laws and customs; you must keep and observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. 

‘You have today made this declaration about the Lord: that he will be your God, but only if you follow his ways, keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and listen to his voice. And the Lord has today made this declaration about you: that you will be his very own people as he promised you, but only if you keep all his commandments; then for praise and renown and honour he will set you high above all the nations he has made, and you will be a people consecrated to the Lord, as he promised.’

Gospel Matthew 5:43-48 Pray for those who persecute you

CDR: Jesus said to his disciples: ‘You have learnt how it was said: You must love your neighbour and hate your enemy. But I say this to you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you; in this way you will be sons of your Father in heaven, for he causes his sun to rise on bad men as well as good, and his rain to fall on honest and dishonest men alike. For if you love those who love you, what right have you to claim any credit? Even the tax collectors do as much, do they not? And if you save your greetings for your brothers, are you doing anything exceptional? Even the pagans do as much, do they not? You must therefore be perfect just as your heavenly Father is perfect.’

Father they are happy who follow your law. Your law is perfect. You are perfect. You are Holy Lord. Help me Father as I strive to obey your law. As human it is difficult, with your grace I can. Give me your Holy Spirit, Lord make me perfect as You my Father in heaven is perfect. Lord make me know Your way, make me walk in your truth.

Lord Jesus I trust in you. Lord how can I love my enemies, and pray for those who persecute me. As human it is impossible to love those who persecute me. By Your grace it is possible. Virgin Mary, full of grace pray for me. Saint Joseph pray for me. God’s Angels and Saints pray for me, My Angel Guardian pray for me.

Le Seigneur est mon berger : rien ne saurait me manquer

Première Lecture 1Peter 5,1-4  « Moi qui suis ancien et témoin des souffrances du Christ »

Bien-aimés, les anciens en fonction parmi vous, je les exhorte, moi qui suis ancien comme eux et témoin des souffrances du Christ, communiant à la gloire qui va se révéler : soyez les pasteurs du troupeau de Dieu qui se trouve chez vous ; veillez sur lui, non par contrainte mais de plein gré, selon Dieu ; non par cupidité mais par dévouement ; non pas en commandant en maîtres à ceux qui vous sont confiés, mais en devenant les modèles du troupeau. Et, quand se manifestera le Chef des pasteurs, vous recevrez la couronne de gloire qui ne se flétrit pas.

Évangile Matthieu 16,13-19 « Tu es Pierre, et je te donnerai les clés du royaume des Cieux »

RC: Jésus, étant arrivé dans le territoire de Césarée de Philippe, demanda à ses disciples: «Qui dit-on que je suis, moi, le Fils de l'homme?». Ils répondirent: «Les uns disent que tu es Jean Baptiste; les autres, Élie; les autres, Jérémie, ou l'un des prophètes». «Et vous, leur dit-il, qui dites-vous que je suis?». Simon Pierre répondit: «Tu es le Christ, le Fils du Dieu vivant».

Jésus, reprenant la parole, lui dit: «Tu es heureux, Simon, fils de Jonas; car ce ne sont pas la chair et le sang qui t'ont révélé cela, mais c'est mon Père qui est dans les cieux. Et moi, je te dis que tu es Pierre, et que sur cette pierre je bâtirai mon Église, et que les portes du séjour des morts ne prévaudront point contre elle. Je te donnerai les clefs du royaume des cieux: ce que tu lieras sur la terre sera lié dans les cieux, et ce que tu délieras sur la terre sera délié dans les cieux».

The Lord is my shepherd: there is nothing I shall want

First Reading 1 Peter  5:1-4 Watch over the flock, not simply as a duty but gladly

Now I have something to tell your elders: I am an elder myself, and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and with you I have a share in the glory that is to be revealed. Be the shepherds of the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a duty but gladly, because God wants it; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it. Never be a dictator over any group that is put in your charge, but be an example that the whole flock can follow. When the chief shepherd appears, you will be given the crown of unfading glory.

Gospel Matthew 16:13-19 You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi he put this question to his disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of Man is?’ And they said, ‘Some say he is John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ ‘But you,’ he said ‘who do you say I am?’ Then Simon Peter spoke up, ‘You are the Christ,’ he said ‘the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘Simon son of Jonah, you are a happy man! Because it was not flesh and blood that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven.

So I now say to you: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church. And the gates of the underworld can never hold out against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth shall be considered bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall be considered loosed in heaven.’

Who knows if God will not change his mind and relen

First Reading Jonah 3:1-10 The 

Ninevites repent, and God spares them

The word of the Lord was addressed to Jonah: ‘Up!’ he said ‘Go to Nineveh, the great city, and preach to them as I told you to.’ Jonah set out and went to Nineveh in obedience to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was a city great beyond compare: it took three days to cross it. Jonah went on into the city, making a day’s journey. He preached in these words, ‘Only forty days more and Nineveh is going to be destroyed.’ 

And the people of Nineveh believed in God; they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least. The news reached the king of Nineveh, who rose from his throne, took off his robe, put on sackcloth and sat down in ashes. A proclamation was then promulgated throughout Nineveh, by decree of the king and his ministers, as follows: ‘Men and beasts, herds and flocks, are to taste nothing; they must not eat, they must not drink water. All are to put on sackcloth and call on God with all their might; and let everyone renounce his evil behaviour and the wicked things he has done. Who knows if God will not change his mind and relent, if he will not renounce his burning wrath, so that we do not perish?’ 

God saw their efforts to renounce their evil behaviour, and God relented: he did not inflict on them the disaster which he had threatened.

Gospel Luke 11:29-32 As Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be a sign

The crowds got even bigger, and Jesus addressed them: 

CDR: ‘This is a wicked generation; it is asking for a sign. The only sign it will be given is the sign of Jonah. For just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. On Judgement day the Queen of the South will rise up with the men of this generation and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here. On Judgement day the men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation and condemn it, because when Jonah preached they repented; and there is something greater than Jonah here.’

Psalm 50 (51) Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness.  In your compassion blot out my offence. O wash me more and more from my guilt  and cleanse me from my sin.

God my Father, I am truly sorry for I have sinned against you. Father you are full of mercy and compassion., take pity on me. Father be merciful to me as I return to you. Father you are loving. My God do not be angry, Father relent.

Jesus, I trust in you. Lord Jesus, come to my help. Virgin Mary pray for me. Saint Jospeh pray for me. God’s Angels and Saints pray for me. My Guardian Angel pray for me.

LE FILS DE L'HOMME SERA UN SIGNE

 MERCREDI, 1ÈRE SEMAINE DE CARÊME:AELF

 Qui sait si Dieu ne se ravisera pas et ne se repentira pas

Première Lecture Jonas 3,1-10

Les gens de Ninive se détournèrent de leur conduite mauvaise

La parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Jonas : « Lève- toi, va à Ninive, la grande ville païenne, proclame le message que je te donne sur elle. » Jonas se leva et partit pour Ninive, selon la parole du Seigneur. Or, Ninive était une ville extraordinairement grande : il fallait trois jours pour la traverser. Jonas la parcourut une journée à peine en proclamant : « Encore quarante jours, et Ninive sera détruite ! »

Aussitôt, les gens de Ninive crurent en Dieu. Ils annoncèrent un jeûne, et tous, du plus grand au plus petit, se vêtirent de toile à sac. La chose arriva jusqu’au roi de Ninive. Il se leva de son trône, quitta son manteau, se couvrit d’une toile à sac, et s’assit sur la cendre. Puis il fit crier dans Ninive ce décret du roi et de ses grands : « Hommes et bêtes, gros et petit bétail, ne goûteront à rien, ne mangeront pas et ne boiront pas. Hommes et bêtes, on se couvrira de toile à sac, on criera vers Dieu de toute sa force, chacun se détournera de sa conduite mauvaise et de ses actes de violence. Qui sait si Dieu ne se ravisera pas et ne se repentira pas, s’il ne reviendra pas de l’ardeur de sa colère ? Et alors nous ne périrons pas ! »

En voyant leur réaction, et comment ils se détournaient de leur conduite mauvaise, Dieu renonça au châtiment dont il les avait menacés.

Psaume: Tu ne repousses pas, ô mon Dieu, un cœur brisé et broyé.

Évangile Luc 11, 29-32 Comme Jonas est un signe pour les Ninivites, 

ainsi le Fils de l'homme sera un signe

RC: En ce temps-là, comme les foules s’amassaient, Jésus se mit à dire : « Cette génération est une génération mauvaise : elle cherche un signe, mais en fait de signe il ne lui sera donné que le signe de Jonas. Car Jonas a été un signe pour les habitants de Ninive ; il en sera de même avec le Fils de l’homme pour cette génération. Lors du Jugement, la reine de Saba se dressera en même temps que les hommes de cette génération, et elle les condamnera. En effet, elle est venue des extrémités de la terre pour écouter la sagesse de Salomon, et il y a ici bien plus que Salomon. Lors du Jugement, les habitants de Ninive se lèveront en même temps que cette génération, et ils la condamneront ; en effet, ils se sont convertis en réponse à la proclamation faite par Jonas, et il y a ici bien plus que Jonas. »

Psaume 50 (51) Pitié pour moi, mon Dieu, dans ton amour, selon ta grande miséricorde, efface mon péché. Lave-moi tout entier de ma faute, purifie moi de mon offense.

Dieu mon Père, je suis vraiment désolé d'avoir péché contre toi. Père, tu es plein de miséricorde, aie pitié de moi. Père, sois miséricordieux à moi  comme je reviens vers toi. Tu es un Père aimant. Mon Dieu, ne sois pas en colère, Père, cède.

Jésus, j'ai confiance en toi. Seigneur Jésus, viens à mon aide. Vierge Marie, priez pour moi. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Les anges et les saints de Dieu prient pour moi. Mon ange gardien prie pour moi.

COMMENT PRIER

 MARDI, 1ÈRE SEMAINE DE CARÊME:AELF

 En priant, ne multipliez pas de vaines paroles

Première Lecture Isaïe 55,10-11 Ma parole fait ce qui me plaît

Ainsi parle le Seigneur : « La pluie et la neige qui descendent des cieux n’y retournent pas sans avoir abreuvé la terre, sans l’avoir fécondée et l’avoir fait germer, donnant la semence au semeur et le pain à celui qui doit manger ; ainsi ma parole, qui sort de ma bouche, ne me reviendra pas sans résultat, sans avoir fait ce qui me plaît, sans avoir accompli sa mission. »

Psaume: De toutes leurs angoisses, Dieu délivre les justes.

 

Évangile Matthieu 6,7-15 Vous donc, priez ainsi 

RC: «En priant, ne multipliez pas de vaines paroles, comme les païens, qui s'imaginent qu'à force de paroles ils seront exaucés. Ne leur ressemblez pas; car votre Père sait de quoi vous avez besoin, avant que vous le lui demandiez. »Voici donc comment vous devez prier:

 

‘Notre Père qui es aux cieux! Que ton nom soit sanctifié;  que ton règne vienne; que ta volonté soit faite sur la terre comme au ciel. Donne-nous aujourd'hui notre pain quotidien;  pardonne-nous nos offenses, comme nous aussi nous pardonnons à ceux qui nous ont offensés; ne nous induis pas en tentation, mais délivre-nous du malin. Car c'est à toi qu'appartiennent, dans tous les siècles, le règne, la puissance et la gloire. Amen!’. 

Si vous pardonnez aux hommes leurs offenses, votre Père céleste vous pardonnera aussi; mais si vous ne pardonnez pas aux hommes, votre Père ne vous pardonnera pas non plus vos offenses».

Le Seigneur délivre les justes dans toute leur détresse. Glorifiez le Seigneur avec moi, exaltons tous ensemble son nom. J'ai cherché mon Seigneur et il m'a répondu ; de toutes mes frayeurs, il m'a libéré.

Père bien-aimé, je te remercie, car « comme la pluie et la neige qui descendent des cieux n’y retournent pas sans avoir abreuvé la terre, sans l’avoir fécondée et l’avoir fait germer, donnant la semence au semeur et le pain pour manger; ainsi ta parole, qui sort de ta bouche, ne te reviendra pas sans résultat, sans accomplir ta volonté, sans avoir accompli sa mission. »' Père que ta Sainte volonté soit faite dans ma vie.

Reading Isaiah 55:10-11 The word that goes out from my mouth does not return to me empty

Thus says the Lord: ‘As the rain and the snow come down from the heavens and do not return without watering the earth, making it yield and giving growth to provide seed for the sower and bread for the eating, so the word that goes from my mouth does not return to me empty, without carrying out my will and succeeding in what it was sent to do.’

Gospel Matthew 6:7-15 How to pray

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘In your prayers do not babble as the pagans do, for they think that by using many words they will make themselves heard. Do not be like them; your Father knows what you need before you ask him. So you should pray like this:

‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be held holy, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us. And do not put us to the test, but save us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom, power and glory, for ever. Amen

‘Yes, if you forgive others their failings, your heavenly Father will forgive you yours; but if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your failings either.’

Première Lecture Lévites 19,1-2.11-18   

Tu jugeras ton compatriote avec justice

Le Seigneur parla à Moïse et dit : « Parle à toute l’assemblée des fils d’Israël. Tu leur diras : 

Soyez saints, car moi, le Seigneur votre Dieu, je suis saint.

Vous ne volerez pas, vous ne mentirez pas, vous ne tromperez aucun de vos compatriotes. Vous ne ferez pas de faux serments par mon nom : tu profanerais le nom de ton Dieu. Je suis le Seigneur. Tu n’exploiteras pas ton prochain, tu ne le dépouilleras pas : tu ne retiendras pas jusqu’au matin la paye du salarié. Tu ne maudiras pas un sourd, tu ne mettras pas d’obstacle devant un aveugle : tu craindras ton Dieu. Je suis le Seigneur. 

Quand vous siégerez au tribunal, vous ne commettrez pas d’injustice ; tu n’avantageras pas le faible, tu ne favoriseras pas le puissant : tu jugeras ton compatriote avec justice. Tu ne répandras pas de calomnies contre quelqu’un de ton peuple, tu ne réclameras pas la mort de ton prochain. Je suis le Seigneur. Tu ne haïras pas ton frère dans ton cœur. Mais tu devras réprimander ton compatriote, et tu ne toléreras pas la faute qui est en lui. Tu ne te vengeras pas. Tu ne garderas pas de rancune contre les fils de ton peuple. Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi- même. Je suis le Seigneur. »

Évangile Matthieu 25,31-46 j'étais nu, et vous m'avez vêtu; j'étais malade, et vous m'avez visité

«Lorsque le Fils de l'homme viendra dans sa gloire, avec tous les anges, il s'assiéra sur le trône de sa gloire. Toutes les nations seront assemblées devant lui. Il séparera les uns d'avec les autres, comme le berger sépare les brebis d'avec les boucs; et il mettra les brebis à sa droite, et les boucs à sa gauche. 

Alors le roi dira à ceux qui seront à sa droite: ‘Venez, vous qui êtes bénis de mon Père; prenez possession du royaume qui vous a été préparé dès la fondation du monde. Car j'ai eu faim, et vous m'avez donné à manger; j'ai eu soif, et vous m'avez donné à boire; j'étais étranger, et vous m'avez recueilli; j'étais nu, et vous m'avez vêtu; j'étais malade, et vous m'avez visité; j'étais en prison, et vous êtes venus vers moi’. Les justes lui répondront: ‘Seigneur, quand t'avons-nous vu avoir faim, et t'avons-nous donné à manger; ou avoir soif, et t'avons-nous donné à boire? Quand t'avons-nous vu étranger, et t'avons-nous recueilli; ou nu, et t'avons-nous vêtu? Quand t'avons-nous vu malade, ou en prison, et sommes-nous allés vers toi?’. Et le roi leur répondra: ‘Je vous le dis en vérité, toutes les fois que vous avez fait ces choses à l'un de ces plus petits de mes frères, c'est à moi que vous les avez faites.

»Ensuite il dira à ceux qui seront à sa gauche: ‘Retirez-vous de moi, maudits; allez dans le feu éternel qui a été préparé pour le diable et pour ses anges. Car j'ai eu faim, et vous ne m'avez pas donné à manger; j'ai eu soif, et vous ne m'avez pas donné à boire; j'étais étranger, et vous ne m'avez pas recueilli; j'étais nu, et vous ne m'avez pas vêtu; j'étais malade et en prison, et vous ne m'avez pas visité’. Ils répondront aussi: ‘Seigneur, quand t'avons-nous vu ayant faim, ou ayant soif, ou étranger, ou nu, ou malade, ou en prison, et ne t'avons-nous pas assisté?. Et il leur répondra: ‘Je vous le dis en vérité, toutes les fois que vous n'avez pas fait ces choses à l'un de ces plus petits, c'est à moi que vous ne les avez pas faites’. 

Et ceux-ci iront au châtiment éternel, mais les justes à la vie éternelle».

Père, tes paroles, sont esprit et elles sont vie. Seigneur rends-moi saint, car tu es mon Dieu, tu es saint. Seigneur Jésus, j’ai confiance en toi. Jésus, mon Maître, je suis à ta recherche. Ne m’abandonne pas, mon Seigneur et mon Rédempteur. Vierge Marie, priez pour moi. Amenez-moi à votre Fils Jésus-Christ. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Les anges et les saints de Dieu prient pour moi. First Reading Leviticus 19:1-2,11-18 

Only pass judgement on your neighbour according to justice

The Lord spoke to Moses; he said: ‘Speak to the whole community of the sons of Israel and say to them:

 ‘“Be holy, for I, the Lord your God, am holy. 

‘“You must not steal nor deal deceitfully or fraudulently with your neighbour. You must not swear falsely by my name, profaning the name of your God. I am the Lord. You must not exploit or rob your neighbour. You must not keep back the labourer’s wage until next morning. You must not curse the dumb, nor put an obstacle in the blind man’s way, but you must fear your God. I am the Lord. 

‘“You must not be guilty of unjust verdicts. You must neither be partial to the little man nor overawed by the great; you must pass judgement on your neighbour according to justice. You must not slander your own people, and you must not jeopardise your neighbour’s life. I am the Lord. You must not bear hatred for your brother in your heart. You must openly tell him, your neighbour, of his offence; this way you will not take a sin upon yourself. You must not exact vengeance, nor must you bear a grudge against the children of your people. You must love your neighbour as yourself. I am the Lord.”’

Gospel Matthew 25:31-46 I was naked and you clothed me; sick, and you visited me

CDR: Jesus said to his disciples: ‘When the Son of Man comes in his glory, escorted by all the angels, then he will take his seat on his throne of glory. All the nations will be assembled before him and he will separate men one from another as the shepherd separates sheep from goats. He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left. 

‘Then the King will say to those on his right hand, “Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take for your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you made me welcome; naked and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me.” Then the virtuous will say to him in reply, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you; or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome; naked and clothe you; sick or in prison and go to see you?” And the King will answer, “I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me.” 

‘Next he will say to those on his left hand, “Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you never gave me food; I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink; I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, naked and you never clothed me, sick and in prison and you never visited me.” Then it will be their turn to ask, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or naked, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?” Then he will answer, “I tell you solemnly, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me.” 

‘And they will go away to eternal punishment, and the virtuous to eternal life.’ 

Father, your words are spirit, and they are life. Lord make me holy for you are my God, you are holy. Lord Jesus I trust in you. Jesus my Master I am in search of you. Do not abandon me my Lord and Redeemer. Virgin Mary pray for me. Bring me to your Son Jesus Christ. Saint Joseph pray for me. God’s Angels and Saints pray for me. My Guardian Angel pray for me.

ECFR: Première Lecture Genèse 9:8-15 

Alliance de Dieu avec Noé qui a échappé au déluge

Dieu dit à Noé et à ses fils : « Voici que moi, j’établis mon alliance avec vous, avec votre descendance après vous, et avec tous les êtres vivants qui sont avec vous : les oiseaux, le bétail, toutes les bêtes de la terre, tout ce qui est sorti de l’arche. Oui, j’établis mon alliance avec vous : aucun être de chair ne sera plus détruit par les eaux du déluge, il n’y aura plus de déluge pour ravager la terre. » 

Dieu dit encore : « Voici le signe de l’alliance que j’établis entre moi et vous, et avec tous les êtres vivants qui sont avec vous, pour les générations à jamais : je mets mon arc au milieu des nuages, pour qu’il soit le signe de l’alliance entre moi et la terre. Lorsque je rassemblerai les nuages au-dessus de la terre, et que l’arc apparaîtra au milieu des nuages, je me souviendrai de mon alliance qui est entre moi et vous, et tous les êtres vivants : les eaux ne se changeront plus en déluge pour détruire tout être de chair.

Deuixème Lecture 1Pierre 3:18-22 Le baptême vous sauve maintenant 

Bien-aimés, le Christ, lui aussi, a souffert pour les péchés, une seule fois, lui, le juste, pour les injustes, afin de vous introduire devant Dieu ; il a été mis à mort dans la chair, mais vivifié dans l’Esprit. C’est en lui qu’il est parti proclamer son message aux esprits qui étaient en captivité. Ceux-ci, jadis, avaient refusé d’obéir, au temps où se prolongeait la patience de Dieu, quand Noé construisit l’arche, dans laquelle un petit nombre, en tout huit personnes, furent sauvées à travers l’eau. C’était une figure du baptême qui vous sauve maintenant : le baptême ne purifie pas de souillures extérieures, mais il est l’engagement envers Dieu d’une conscience droite et il sauve par la résurrection de Jésus Christ, lui qui est à la droite de Dieu, après s’en être allé au ciel, lui à qui sont soumis les anges, ainsi que les Souverainetés et les Puissances.

Évangile Marc 1,12-15 « Jésus fut tenté par Satan, et les anges le servaient »

RC: Jésus venait d’être baptisé. Aussitôt l’Esprit le pousse au désert. Et dans le désert il resta quarante jours, tenté par Satan. Il vivait parmi les bêtes sauvages, et les anges le servaient. 

Après l'arrestation de Jean Baptiste, Jésus partit pour la Galilée proclamer la Bonne Nouvelle de Dieu; il disait: «Les temps sont accomplis: le règne de Dieu est tout proche. Convertissez-vous et croyez à la Bonne Nouvelle».

Seigneur, enseigne-moi tes voies, fais-moi connaître ta route. Dirige-moi par ta vérité, enseigne-moi, car tu es le Dieu qui me sauve.

Your ways, Lord, are faithfulness and love

CIR: First Reading Isaiah 9:8-15 

'There shall be no flood to destroy the earth again'

God spoke to Noah and his sons, ‘See, I establish my Covenant with you, and with your descendants after you; also with every living creature to be found with you, birds, cattle and every wild beast with you: everything that came out of the ark, everything that lives on the earth. I establish my Covenant with you: no thing of flesh shall be swept away again by the waters of the flood. There shall be no flood to destroy the earth again.’ 

God said, ‘Here is the sign of the Covenant I make between myself and you and every living creature with you for all generations: I set my bow in the clouds and it shall be a sign of the Covenant between me and the earth. When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, I will recall the Covenant between myself and you and every living creature of every kind. And so the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all things of flesh.’

Responsorial Psalm: Your ways, Lord, are faithfulness and love for those who keep your covenant.

Second Reading 1 Peter 3:18-22 

The water on which the Ark floated is a type of the baptism which saves you now

Christ himself, innocent though he was, died once for sins, died for the guilty, to lead us to God. In the body he was put to death, in the spirit he was raised to life, and, in the spirit, he went to preach to the spirits in prison. Now it was long ago, when Noah was still building that ark which saved only a small group of eight people ‘by water’, and when God was still waiting patiently, that these spirits refused to believe. That water is a type of the baptism which saves you now, and which is not the washing off of physical dirt but a pledge made to God from a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has entered heaven and is at God’s right hand, now that he has made the angels and Dominations and Powers his subjects.

Gospel Mark 1:12-15 Jesus was tempted by Satan, and the angels looked after him

CDR: The Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness and he remained there for forty days, and was tempted by Satan. He was with the wild beasts, and the angels looked after him. 

After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the Good News from God. 

The time has come’ he said ‘and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good News.’ 

Lord, make me know your ways.  Lord, teach me your paths. Make me walk in your truth, and teach me:  for you are God my saviour. 

Jesus, I trust in you. Virgin Mary pray for me. Saint Joseph pray for me. God’s Angels and Saints pray for me. My Guardian Angel pray for me.
