LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, AND PRAY FOR THEM

SATURDAY 1ST WEEK OF LENT: Universalis
You must therefore be perfect just as your heavenly Father is perfect

First Reading Deuteronomy 26:16-19 
You will be a people consecrated to the Lord

Moses said to the people: ‘The Lord your God today commands you to observe these laws and customs; you must keep and observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. 

‘You have today made this declaration about the Lord: that he will be your God, but only if you follow his ways, keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and listen to his voice. And the Lord has today made this declaration about you: that you will be his very own people as he promised you, but only if you keep all his commandments; then for praise and renown and honour he will set you high above all the nations he has made, and you will be a people consecrated to the Lord, as he promised.’

Responsorial Psalm: They are happy who follow God’s law!

Gospel Matthew 5:43-48 Pray for those who persecute you

CDR: Jesus said to his disciples: ‘You have learnt how it was said: You must love your neighbour and hate your enemy. But I say this to you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you; in this way you will be sons of your Father in heaven, for he causes his sun to rise on bad men as well as good, and his rain to fall on honest and dishonest men alike. For if you love those who love you, what right have you to claim any credit? Even the tax collectors do as much, do they not? And if you save your greetings for your brothers, are you doing anything exceptional? Even the pagans do as much, do they not? You must therefore be perfect just as your heavenly Father is perfect.’

Father they are happy who follow your law. Your law is perfect. You are perfect. You are Holy Lord. Help me Father as I strive to obey your law. As human it is difficult, with your grace I can. Give me your Holy Spirit, Lord make me perfect as You my Father in heaven is perfect. Lord make me know Your way, make me walk in your truth.

Lord Jesus I trust in you. Lord how can I love my enemies, and pray for those who persecute me. As human it is impossible to love those who persecute me. By Your grace it is possible. Virgin Mary, full of grace pray for me. Saint Joseph pray for me. God’s Angels and Saints pray for me, My Angel Guardian pray for me.

First Reading 1 John 2:22-28 The anointing he gave you teaches you everything The man who denies that Jesus is the Christ  he is the liar, he is Antichrist; and he is denying the Father as well as the Son, because no one who has the Father can deny the Son, and to acknowledge the Son is to have the Father as well. BE CURED

Prayer before Mass:  Almighty and ever-living God, I approach the sacrament of Your only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. I come sick to the doctor of life, unclean to the fountain of mercy, blind to the radiance of eternal light, and poor and needy to the Lord of heaven and earth. Lord, in Your great generosity, heal my sickness, wash away my defilement, enlighten my blindness, enrich my poverty, and clothe my nakedness.
