Saints are men, women, teenagers, who discover the love of God through Jesus Christ. In order to express their love sacrificed their comfort for the well being of humanity like Christ.  In embracing Christianity so that the world is devoid of of hatred, evil, wickedness, injustice, and vices that creates imbalance in the life of humanity, especially the less privilege in the society  The Memorial of St. John Paul II They conquer through love, sacrifice and forgiveness.  The Catholic religion celebrate them in memorials so that people will emulate their lives for a better society and a better world. The Altar's Liturgical color is WHITE for the celebration of Memorial Mass for saints, however for Martyrs equally saints RED is the memorial color for their celebration.
