RELIGION AND ART

Jesus made the disciples get into a boat and precede him to the other side of the sea, while he dismissed the crowds.  After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When it was evening he was there alone. Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore, was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it.  During the night, he came towards them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified. "It is a ghost," they said, and they cried out in fear.  At once Jesus spoke to them, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid." Peter said to him in reply "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." He said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water towards Jesus. But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him,

Psalm 19 "For me, prayer is an aspiration of the heart, it is a simple glance directed to heaven, it is a cry of gratitude and love in the midst of trial as well as joy; finally it is something great, supernatural, which expands my soul and unites me to Jesus." GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO EAT Thus says the LORD;  All you who are thirsty, come to the water! You who have no money, come, receive grain and eat;  Come, without paying and without cost, drink wine and milk!   Why spend your money for what is not bread;  your wages for what fails to satisfy? Heed me, and you shall eat well, you shall delight in rich fare.  Come to me heedfully, listen, that you may have life.  I will renew with you the everlasting covenant,  the benefits assured to David. Feed me LORD with your word, feed me Lord with your Eucharistic Body. Give me a generous heart. LORD help me to be compassionate towards my fellow creatures. "Five loaves and two fish are all we have here?' Then he said, "Bring them here to me," and he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them the crowds.

The priests and prophets said to the princes and to all the people, Saint Alphonsus "This man deserves death; he has prophesied against the city, as you have heard with your own ears." Jeremiah gave this answer to the princes and all the people: "It was the LORD who sent me to prophesy against the house and city all that you have heard.  Now, therefore, reform your ways and your deeds; listen to the voice of the LORD your God, so that the LORD will repent of the evil with which he threatens you. As for my, I am in your hands; do with me what you think good and right. But mark well: if you put me to death, it is innocent blood you bring on yourselves, on this city and its citizens.
