Thursday, Week 16 in Ordinary Time: Understanding the mystery of God's Kingdom
First Reading Jeremiah 2:1-3,7-8,12-13 I brought you to a fertile country and you
defiled it
‘“The Lord says this: I remember the
affection of your youth, the love of your bridal days: you followed me through
the wilderness, through a land unsown. Israel was sacred to the Lord, the
first-fruits of his harvest; anyone who ate of this had to pay for it, misfortune
came to them – it is the Lord who speaks.”.......
Responsorial Psalm: In you, Lord, is the source of life.
Gospel Matthew 13:10-17 Prophets and holy men longed
to hear what you hear
The disciples went up to Jesus
and asked, ‘Why do you talk to them in parables?’ ‘Because’ he replied, ‘the
mysteries of the kingdom of heaven are revealed to you, but they are not
revealed to them. For anyone who has will be given more, and he will have more
than enough; but from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
The reason I talk to them in parables is that they look without seeing and
listen without hearing or understanding. So in their case this prophecy of
Isaiah is being fulfilled:
You will listen and listen
again, but not understand, see and see again, but not perceive. For the heart
of this nation has grown coarse, their ears are dull of hearing, and they have
shut their eyes, for fear they should see with their eyes, hear with their
ears, understand with their heart,and be converted and be healed
by me.
‘But happy are your eyes
because they see, your ears because they hear! I tell you solemnly, many
prophets and holy men longed to see what you see, and never saw it; to hear
what you hear, and never heard it.’
My God, my
Father, In you, Lord, is the source of life. I thank you for bringing me into the family of Christ. The Christian
faith, makes us your sons and daughters. I rejoice because you are full of
mercy and compassion. Give me wisdom, knowledge and understanding to know the mystery
of your heavenly kingdom. To understand the depth of your love. I long for you my
God. Jesus I trust in you. Christ my
Lord, draw me closer to you each day. Virgin Mary pray for me. Saint Joseph, pray for me. My Angel guardian, be my companion. Pray for me.

ÉvangileMatthieu 13, 10-17
«Les prophètes et de
justes ont désiré entendre ce que vous entendez »
En ce temps-là,
les disciples s’approchèrent de Jésus et lui dirent : « Pourquoi leur parles-tu
en paraboles ? » Il leur répondit : « À vous il est donné de connaître les
mystères du royaume des Cieux, mais ce n’est pas donné à ceux-là. À celui qui
a, on donnera, et il sera dans l’abondance ; à celui qui n’a pas, on enlèvera
même ce qu’il a. Si je leur parle en paraboles, c’est parce qu’ils regardent
sans regarder, et qu’ils écoutent sans écouter ni comprendre. Ainsi s’accomplit pour eux la prophétie d’Isaïe :
Mais vous, heureux vos yeux puisqu’ils voient, et vos oreilles puisqu’elles
entendent ! Amen, je vous le dis : beaucoup de prophètes et de justes ont
désiré voir ce que vous voyez, et ne l’ont pas vu, entendre ce que vous
entendez, et ne l’ont pas entendu. »
Mon Dieu, mon Père, En toi, Seigneur, est la
source de vie. Je te remercie de m'avoir
accueilli dans la famille du Christ. La foi chrétienne, fait de nous tes fils et
tes filles. Je me réjouis de ta grande miséricorde et de ta compassion.
Donne-moi la sagesse, la connaissance et l'intelligence pour connaître le
mystère de ton royaume céleste et pour comprendre la profondeur de ton amour.
Je te désire ardemment, mon Dieu. Jésus, j'ai confiance en toi. Christ, mon
Seigneur, rapproche-moi de toi chaque jour. Vierge Marie, priez pour moi. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Mon ange gardien, sois mon compagnon. Priez pour moi.
Priez le Saint Rosaire : Je vous salue Marie, pleine de grâc
