‘WHO WILL SAVE US FROM GOD'S MIGHTY POWER’

First Reading 1 Samuel 4:1-11 Israel is defeated and the ark of God is captured

It happened at that time that the Philistines mustered to fight Israel and Israel went out to meet them in battle, encamping near Ebenezer while the Philistines were encamped at Aphek. The Philistines drew up their battle line against Israel, the battle was hotly engaged, and Israel was defeated by the Philistines and about four thousand of their army were killed on the field. The troops returned to the camp and the elders of Israel said, ‘Why has the Lord allowed us to be defeated today by the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of our God from Shiloh so that it may come among us and rescue us from the power of our enemies.’’ So the troops sent to Shiloh and brought away the ark of the Lord of Hosts, he who is seated on the cherubs; the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, came with the ark. When the ark of the Lord arrived in the camp, all Israel gave a great shout so that the earth resounded. When the Philistines heard the noise of the shouting, they said, ‘What can this great shouting in the Hebrew camp mean?’ And they realised that the ark of the Lord had come into the camp. At this the Philistines were afraid; and they said, ‘God has come to the camp.’ ‘Alas!’ they cried ‘This has never happened before. Alas! Who will save us from the power of this mighty God? It was he who struck down Egypt with every kind of plague! But take courage and be men, Philistines, or you will become slaves to the Hebrews as they have been slaves to you. Be men and fight.’ So the Philistines joined battle and Israel was defeated, each man fleeing to his tent. The slaughter was great indeed, and there fell of the Israelites thirty thousand foot soldiers. The ark of God was captured too, and the two sons of Eli died, Hophni and Phinehas.

Gospel Mark 1:40-45 The leprosy left the man at once, and he was cured

A leper came to Jesus and pleaded on his knees: ‘If you want to’ he said ‘you can cure me.’ Feeling sorry for him, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him. ‘Of course I want to!’ he said. ‘Be cured!’ And the leprosy left him at once and he was cured. Jesus immediately sent him away and sternly ordered him, ‘Mind you say nothing to anyone, but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for your healing prescribed by Moses as evidence of your recovery.’ The man went away, but then started talking about it freely and telling the story everywhere, so that Jesus could no longer go openly into any town, but had to stay outside in places where nobody lived. Even so, people from all around would come to him.

Évangile Marc 1,40-45 «A l'instant même, sa lèpre le quitta et il fut purifié»

Un lépreux vient trouver Jésus; il tombe à ses genoux et le supplie: «Si tu le veux, tu peux me purifier». Pris de pitié devant cet homme, Jésus étendit la main, le toucha et lui dit: «Je le veux, sois purifié». A l'instant même, sa lèpre le quitta et il fut purifié. Aussitôt Jésus le renvoya avec cet avertissement sévère: «Attention, ne dis rien à personne, mais va te montrer au prêtre. Et donne pour ta purification ce que Moïse prescrit dans la Loi: ta guérison sera pour les gens un témoignage». Une fois parti, cet homme se mit à proclamer et à répandre la nouvelle, de sorte qu'il n'était plus possible à Jésus d'entrer ouvertement dans une ville. Il était obligé d'éviter les lieux habités, mais de partout on venait à lui.

Loving Father, redeem me, because of your love. You are my Redeemer, you are my God. Lord, save me. Lord Jesus Christ, present in the Most Holy Eucharist, I adore you. Lord if you want you can purify me. Jesus, I trust in you. My lips will speak of your goodness. Mother Mary, pray for me. Saint Joseph, pray for me. My Angel Guardian, pray for me.

Pray the Holy Rosary. Hail Mary full of grace.

Père aimant, par ton amour, rachète-moi. Tu es mon Rédempteur, tu es mon Dieu. Seigneur, sauve-moi. Seigneur Jésus-Christ, présent dans l'Eucharistie Très Sainte , je t'adore. Seigneur, si tu le veux, purifie-moi. Jésus, je te fais mon confiance. Mes lèvres témoigneront de ta bonté. Mère Marie, priez pour moi. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Mon Ange Gardien, priez pour moi.

First Reading 1 John 2:22-28 The anointing he gave you teaches you everything The man who denies that Jesus is the Christ he is the liar, he is Antichrist; and he is denying the Father as well as the Son, because no one who has the Father can deny the Son, and to acknowledge the Son is to have the Father as well. Keep alive in yourselves what you were taught in the beginning: as long as what you were taught in the beginning is alive in you, you will live in the Son and in the Father; and what is promised to you by his own promise is eternal life. This is all that I am writing to you about the people who are trying to lead you astray. BE CURED

Prayer before Mass: Almighty and ever-living God, I approach the sacrament of Your only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. I come sick to the doctor of life, unclean to the fountain of mercy, blind to the radiance of eternal light, and poor and needy to the Lord of heaven and earth. Lord, in Your great generosity, heal my sickness, wash away my defilement, enlighten my blindness, enrich my poverty, and clothe my nakedness. May I receive the Bread of Angels, the King of kings and Lord of lords, with humble reverence, with the purity and faith, the repentance and love, and the determined purpose that will help to bring me to salvation. May I receive the sacrament of the Lord’s Body and Blood, and its reality and power.
