MONDAY WEEK SIX IN EASTER: The Spirit of Truth will be my witness

First Reading Acts 16:11-15 The Lord opened Lydia's heart to accept what Paul was saying

Sailing from Troas we made a straight run for Samothrace; the next day for Neapolis, and from there for Philippi, a Roman colony and the principal city of that particular district of Macedonia. After a few days in this city we went along the river outside the gates as it was the sabbath and this was a customary place for prayer.

We sat down and preached to the women who had come to the meeting. One of these women was called Lydia, a devout woman from the town of Thyatira who was in the purple-dye trade. She listened to us, and the Lord opened her heart to accept what Paul was saying. After she and her household had been baptised she sent us an invitation: ‘If you really think me a true believer in the Lord,’ she said ‘come and stay with us’; and she would take no refusal.

Gospel John 15:26-16:4 The Spirit of truth will be my witness

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘When the Advocate comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who issues from the Father, he will be my witness.

And you too will be witnesses, because you have been with me from the outset. ‘I have told you all this that your faith may not be shaken. They will expel you from the synagogues, and indeed the hour is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is doing a holy duty for God.

They will do these things because they have never known either the Father or me. But I have told you all this, so that when the time for it comes you may remember that I told you.’ Reflections

PRAYER: My Father in heaven, my God I thank you for you take delight in your creatures. Father you are full of mercy, love and compassion. Father I thank you for a new week. I offer all my efforts to you that at the end each day of the week all glory may be yours through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord and our Redeemer.

Father send me your Spirit of truth to guide me to the truth about the knowledge of Jesus Christ your Son. Let the Spirit of truth transform me that your glory be revealed in my life. Keep faithful me to your word, keep me faithful the Christ. Keep faithful to His teaching.

Lord Jesus I want to follow you. Remove every hindrance from me that would be an obstacle. Lord fill me with your love. Come Holy Spirit, come Spirit of Truth come dwell in me.

Lord Jesus Christ I trust in you. Blessed Virgin Mary pray for me. Blessed Saint Joseph pray for me. God's Holy Angels and Saints pray for me. My Patron Saint pray for me. My Angel Guardian pray for me. Be my protection, be my guide and guard. Thank you Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer before Mass: Almighty and ever-living God, I approach the sacrament of Your only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. I come sick to the doctor of life, unclean to the fountain of mercy, blind to the radiance of eternal light, and poor and needy to the Lord of heaven and earth. Lord, in Your great generosity, heal my sickness, wash away my defilement, enlighten my blindness, enrich my poverty, and clothe my nakedness. May I receive the Bread of Angels, the King of kings and Lord of lords, with humble reverence, with the purity and faith, the repentance and love, and the determined purpose that will help to bring me to salvation.
