THE SECRET OF TRUE HAPPINESS

A BLESSING ON THE ONE WHOSE TRUST IS IN THE LORD
SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME  YEAR C:

MY DAILY OFFERING O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. Readings Reflection

I offer them for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart: the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, the union of all Christians. I offer them for the intentions of our Bishops and all Apostles of prayer, and in particular for those recommended by our holy Father Pope Francis this month.  Pieta Lectures

First Reading Jer. 17:5-8  A blessing on the man who puts his trust in the Lord

The Lord says this:

‘A curse on the man who puts his trust in man, who relies on things of flesh, whose heart turns from the Lord. He is like dry scrub in the wastelands: if good comes, he has no eyes for it, he settles in the parched places of the wilderness, a salt land, uninhabited.

‘A blessing on the man who puts his trust in the Lord, with the Lord for his hope. He is like a tree by the waterside that thrusts its roots to the stream: when the heat comes it feels no alarm, its foliage stays green; it has no worries in a year of drought, and never ceases to bear fruit.’

Responsorial Psalm: Happy the man who has placed his trust in the Lord

Second Reading 1 Corint. 15:12,16-20 If Christ has not been raised, you are still in your sins

If Christ raised from the dead is what has been preached, how can some of you be saying that there is no resurrection of the dead? For if the dead are not raised, Christ has not been raised, and if Christ has not been raised, you are still in your sins. And what is more serious, all who have died in Christ have perished. If our hope in Christ has been for this life only, we are the most unfortunate of all people. But Christ has in fact been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep.

Gospel Luke 6:17,20-26 Happy are you who are poor, who are hungry, who weep

Jesus came down with the Twelve and stopped at a piece of level ground where there was a large gathering of his disciples with a great crowd of people from all parts of Judaea and from Jerusalem and from the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon. Then fixing his eyes on his  disciples he said:

‘How happy are you who are poor: yours is the kingdom of God. Happy you who are hungry now: you shall be satisfied. Happy you who weep now: you shall laugh. Happy are you when people hate you, drive you out, abuse you, denounce your name as criminal, on account of the Son of Man.

Rejoice when that day comes and dance for joy, for then your reward will be great in heaven. This was the way their ancestors treated the prophets.

‘But alas for you who are rich: you are having your consolation now. Alas for you who have your fill now: you shall go hungry.Alas for you who laugh now: you shall mourn and weep.

‘Alas for you when the world speaks well of you! This was the way their ancestors treated the false prophets.’

Your Birthday Saints. Saint Giles, Religious and St. Catherine de Ricci. May they intercede on your behalf as you celebrate your birthday.

My God, my Father forgive me for many times I have put my trust in men, fellow creatures. Father remove every negative consequence of my lack of trust in you upon my life.

The prophet Jerimiah said ‘A curse on the man who puts his trust in man, who relies on things of flesh, whose heart turns from the Lord. He is like dry scrub in the wastelands: if good comes, he has no eyes for it, he settles in the parched places of the wilderness, a salt land, uninhabited.

My Heavenly Father remove the negative effect this may have created in my life. Father thank you for Jesus Christ your died for my sake to redeem me from the effect of any curse upon my life.

As I worship you in Holy Mass today, Father through the celebration of the Holy Mass instituted by your Son Jesus Christ my Lord, I receive  blessings in place of curse for I put all my trust in you Father for  you sent Jesus Christ my risen Lord, and my hope for my redemption.

I am  blessed  for my trust is in the Lord. The Lord is my  hope. I am  like a tree by the waterside that thrusts its roots to the stream when the heat comes I not afraid. My foliage stays green. I have no worries in a year of drought, and I will continually bear good fruits in all seasons.

Lord Jesus Christ thank you for revealing to us the Secret of Happiness. Lord Jesus Christ I trust in you. Virgin Mary pray for me. Saint Joseph pray for me. God's Holy Angels pray for me. My Angel Guardian, pray for me, guide and guard me. Be my protection.

Please pray the Holy Rosary: May our Blessed Mother, the Mother of Christ bring us to her Son
