GOD SPOKE TO US THROUGH HIS SON
Prayer before Mass: Almighty and ever-living God, I approach the sacrament of Your only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. I come sick to the doctor of life, unclean to the fountain of mercy, blind to the radiance of eternal light, and poor and needy to the Lord of heaven and earth. Lord, in Your great generosity, heal my sickness, wash away my defilement, enlighten my blindness, enrich my poverty, and clothe my nakedness. May I receive the Bread of Angels, the King of kings and Lord of lords, with humble reverence, with the purity and faith, the repentance and love, and the determined purpose that will help to bring me to salvation.
May I receive the sacrament of the Lord’s Body and Blood, and its reality and power. Kind God, may I receive the Body of Your only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, born from the womb of the Virgin Mary, and so be received into His mystical body and numbered among His members.

Loving Father, as on my earthly pilgrimage I now receive Your beloved Son under the veil of a sacrament, may I one day see Him face to face in glory, who lives and reigns with You forever. Amen. By Knights of the Holy Eucharist. Readings

God has spoken
to us through his Son
At various
times in the past and in various different ways, God spoke to our ancestors
through the prophets; but in our own time, the last days, he has spoken to us
through his Son, the Son that he has appointed to inherit everything and
through whom he made everything there is. He is the radiant light of God’s
glory and the perfect copy of his nature, sustaining the universe by his
powerful command; and now that he has destroyed the defilement of sin, he has
gone to take his place in heaven at the right hand of divine Majesty. So he is
now as far above the angels as the title which he has inherited is higher than
their own name.
God has never said to any angel: You are my Son,
today I have become your father; or: I will be a father to him and he
a son to me. Again, when he brings the First-Born
into the world, he says: Let all the angels of God worship him.
Gospel
I will make you into fishers
of men
After John had been arrested, Jesus went into
Galilee. There he proclaimed the Good News from God. ‘The time has come’ he
said ‘and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good
News.’
Each day Lord, you invite me to follow you. Open my heart to listen to your voice calling me to follow. Holy Spirit, take control of all my actions. Lord Jesus Christ, God's radiant and glory be with me.
