THE UPPER ROOM

7TH SUNDAY OF EASTER
After Jesus had been taken up to heaven the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the mount callet Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day's journey away.

When they entered the city they went to the upper room where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.

All these devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, together with some women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

Lord Jesus Christ, send me the Holy Spirit you promised before ascending to heaven.
It is easy for me to be trapped in my daily routine and feel that it does not matter
communicating with you through your words. Lord Jesus help me to know you
more, increase my trust and faith in you. May I be devoted to you to prayer.

Prayer before Mass:  Almighty and ever-living God, I approach the sacrament of Your only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. I come sick to the doctor of life, unclean to the fountain of mercy, blind to the radiance of eternal light, and poor and needy to the Lord of heaven and earth. Lord, in Your great generosity, heal my sickness, wash away my defilement, enlighten my blindness, enrich my poverty, and clothe my nakedness.
