SUNDAY 8TH JANUARY SOLEMNITY OF EPIPHANY

Ant. Christ has appeared to us, come, let us adore him.

Ant. 1     The wise men opened their treasure and offered to the Lord gifts of gold,
              frankincense and myrrh, alleluia

Psalm 63:2-9       A soul thirsting for God

O God, you are my God; at dawn I seek you, for you my soul is thirsting.
For you my flesh is pining, like a dry, weary land without water.
I have come before you in the holy place, to behold your strength and your glory.

Your loving mercy is better than life, my lips will speak your praise.
I will bless you all my life, in your name I will lift up my hand.
My soul shall be filled as with a banquet; with joyful my mouth shall praise you.

When I remember you upon my bed, I muse on you through the watches of the night.
For you have been my strength, in the shadow of your wings I rejoice.
My soul clings fast to you; your right hand upholds me.

Ant. 2.  Mighty seas and rivers, bless the Lord; springs of water, sing his praises, alleluia

Bless the Lord, all you works of the Lord, praise and highly exalt him for ever.
Heavens, bless the Lord, praise and highly exalt him for ever.

Angels of the Lord, bless the Lord, praise and highly exalt him for ever.
All waters above the heavens, bless the Lord, praise and highly exalt him for ever.

All powers of the Lord, bless the Lord, praise and highly exalt him for ever.
Sun and moon, bless the Lord, praise and highly exalt him for ever.

Stars of heaven, bless the Lord, praise and highly exalt him for ever.
Every shower and dew, bless the Lord, praise and highly exalt him for ever……

Ant. 3.   Jerusalem, your light has come, the glory of the Lord is dawn upon you.
Men and women of every race shall walk in the splendour of your sunrise, alleluia.

Psalm 149

Reading:  How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings glad tidings, announcing  peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation, and saying to Zion, `Your Go dis  King’ Hark ! Your watchmen raise a cry, together they shout for joy, for they see directly, before their eyes, the Lord restoring Zion. Break out together in song. O ruins of Jerusalem! For the Lord comforts his people, he redeems Jerusalem.  The Lord has bared his holy arm in the sight of all the nations; all the ends of the earth will behold the salvation of our God.  Is. 52:7-10

Prayer: Father, you revealed your Son to the nations by the guidance
Of a star.  Lead us to your glory in heaven by the light of faith, we ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
