SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT
SUNDAY WEEK II
Invitatory: Lord,
open my lips
O God come to my assistance. Lord make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the
beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Alleluia
Ant. Blessed
is he who comes in the name of the Lord, alleluia
Psalm118 A
song of victory
Give thanks to the Lord, for His good, his mercy endures for ever.
Let the house of Israel say, His mercy endures for ever.
Let the house of Aaron say, His mercy endures for ever.
Let those who fear the Lord say, His mercy endures for ever.
I called to the Lord in my distress, he has answered and freed me.
The Lord is at my side; I do not fear. What can man do against me?
The Lord is at my side as my helper, I shall look in triumph on my foes.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD, than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD, than to trust in princes………
Ant. 2 Let us
sing hymns of praise to our God, alleluia
Cant. Daniel 3:52-57
Blest are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers, to be praised and highly
exalted for ever.
Blest is your glorious and holy name, to be highly praised and exalted
for ever.
Blest are you in the temple of your holy glory, to be highly praised and
exalted for ever.
Blest are you in the throne of your kingdom, to be praised and highly
exalted for ever.
Blest are you who look into the depths, seated upon the cherubim, to be
praised and highly exalted for ever…..
Ant. 3 Praise
the Lord for his infinite greatness, alleluia
Praise the Lord in his holy place, praise him in his mighty firmament.
Praise him for his powerful deeds, praise him for his boundless
splendour.
O praise him with sound of trumpet, praise him with lute and harps.
Praise him with timbrel and dance, praise him with strings and pipes
O praise him resounding cymbals, praise him with clashing of cymbals.
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord.
It is the hour now for you to awake from sleep. For our salvation is nearer now than when we
first believed; the night is advanced, the day is at hand. Let us then throw off the works of darkness
and put on the amour of light. Rom. 13:11-12
Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on us
A voice cries in the desert: Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight
his path.
Prayer: God of power and mercy, open our hearts in welcome.
Remove the things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy, so that we may
share his wisdom and become one with him when he comes in glory, for he lives
and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
