Six months before the birth of Jesus we celebrate the birth of John the Baptist, the forerunner of the Lord. John was conceived in a special way, his Father Zechariah was old, his mother Elizabeth was barren.
From David's, descendants God, according to his promise, has brought a saviour, Jesus. John herald his coming by proclaiming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel; and John was completing his course, he would say; ''What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. Behold, one is coming after me; ''I am not worthy to unfasten the sandals of his feet''.
Act. 13:23-25
O sing a new song to the Lord,
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
O sing to the Lord, bless his name.
Proclaim his salvation day by day.
Tell among the nations his glory,
and his wonders among all the peoples.
Psalm 96
