Where I am you may be too

First Reading Actes 13:26-33

God has fulfilled his promise by raising Jesus from the dead

Paul stood up in the synagogue at Antioch in Pisidia, held up a hand for silence and began to speak: 

‘My brothers, sons of Abraham’s race, and all you who fear God, this message of salvation is meant for you. What the people of Jerusalem and their rulers did, though they did not realise it, was in fact to fulfil the prophecies read on every sabbath. Though they found nothing to justify his death, they condemned him and asked Pilate to have him executed. When they had carried out everything that scripture foretells about him they took him down from the tree and buried him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead, and for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied him from Galilee to Jerusalem: and it is these same companions of his who are now his witnesses before our people.  

We have come here to tell you the Good News. It was to our ancestors that God made the promise but it is to us, their children, that he has fulfilled it, by raising Jesus from the dead. As scripture says in the second psalm: You are my son: today I have become your father.’ 

Responsorial Psalm: You are my Son. It is I who have begotten you this day.

Gospel John 14:1-6 I am the Way, the Truth and the Life

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am you may be too. You know the way to the place where I am going.’ Thomas said, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus said: ‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’

Loving Father, I have no knowledge of your word. Father send me your Holy Spirit to teach me and make me understand your words. I cannot discern your gentle voice. Come reveal yourself to me. 

Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus you are the Way, the Truth and Life. Do not abandon me my Lord. Virgin Mary pray for me. Joseph pray for me. God’s Angels and Saints pray for me. My Guardian Angel pray for me. 

Pray the Holy Rosary. Hail Mary full of grace.

Première Lecture Actes 13,26-33 

« La promesse, Dieu l’a pleinement accomplie en ressuscitant Jésus »

En ces jours-là, Paul vint à Antioche de Pisidie. Dans la synagogue, il disait : « Vous, frères, les fils de la lignée d’Abraham et ceux parmi vous qui craignent Dieu, c’est à nous que la parole du salut a été envoyée. En effet, les habitants de Jérusalem et leurs chefs ont méconnu Jésus, ainsi que les paroles des prophètes qu’on lit chaque sabbat ; or, en le jugeant, ils les ont accomplies. Sans avoir trouvé en lui aucun motif de condamnation à mort, ils ont demandé à Pilate qu’il soit supprimé. Et, après avoir accompli tout ce qui était écrit de lui, ils l’ont descendu du bois de la croix et mis au tombeau. » Mais Dieu l’a ressuscité d’entre les morts. Il est apparu pendant bien des jours à ceux qui étaient montés avec lui de Galilée à Jérusalem, et qui sont maintenant ses témoins devant le peuple. 

Et nous, nous vous annonçons cette Bonne Nouvelle : la promesse faite à nos pères, Dieu l’a pleinement accomplie pour nous, leurs enfants, en ressuscitant Jésus, comme il est écrit au psaume deux : Tu es mon fils ; moi, aujourd’hui, je t’ai engendré. »

Évangile Jean 14,1-6 « Moi, je suis le Chemin, la Vérité et la Vie »

«Ne soyez donc pas bouleversés: vous croyez en Dieu, croyez aussi en moi. Dans la maison de mon Père, beaucoup peuvent trouver leur demeure; sinon, est-ce que je vous aurais dit: Je pars vous préparer une place? Quand je serai allé vous la préparer, je reviendrai vous prendre avec moi; et là où je suis, vous y serez aussi. Pour aller où je m'en vais, vous savez le chemin». Thomas lui dit: «Seigneur, nous ne savons même pas où tu vas; comment pourrions-nous savoir le chemin?». Jésus lui répond: «Moi, je suis le Chemin, la Vérité et la Vie; personne ne va vers le Père sans passer par moi».

Père bien-aimé, je n’ai aucune connaissance de ta parole. Père, envoie-moi ton Saint-Esprit pour m’enseigner et me faire comprendre tes paroles. Je ne peux pas discerner ta douce voix. Viens, révèle-toi à moi.

Jésus, j’ai confiance en toi.  Tu es le Chemin, la Vérité et la Vie. Ne m’abandonne pas mon Seigneur. Vierge Marie, priez pour moi. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Les anges et les saints de Dieu prient pour moi. Mon Ange Gardien prie pour moi.

Priez le Saint Rosaire. Je vous salue Marie pleine de grâce.

En mon nom, ils expulseront les démons

Première Lecture 1 Pierre 5,5b-14 « Marc, mon fils, vous salue »

Bien-aimés, vous tous, les uns envers les autres, prenez l’humilité comme tenue de service. En effet, Dieu s’oppose aux orgueilleux, aux humbles il accorde sa grâce. Abaissez-vous donc sous la main puissante de Dieu, pour qu’il vous élève en temps voulu. Déchargez-vous sur lui de tous vos soucis, puisqu’il prend soin de vous. Soyez sobres, veillez : votre adversaire, le diable, comme un lion rugissant, rôde, cherchant qui dévorer. Résistez-lui avec la force de la foi, car vous savez que tous vos frères, de par le monde, sont en butte aux mêmes souffrances. Après que vous aurez souffert un peu de temps, le Dieu de toute grâce, lui qui, dans le Christ Jésus, vous a appelés à sa gloire éternelle, vous rétablira lui-même, vous affermira, vous fortifiera, vous rendra inébranlables. À lui la souveraineté pour les siècles. Amen. 

Par Silvain, que je considère comme un frère digne de confiance, je vous écris ces quelques mots pour vous exhorter, et pour attester que c’est vraiment dans la grâce de Dieu que vous tenez ferme. La communauté qui est à Babylone, choisie comme vous par Dieu, vous salue, ainsi que Marc, mon fils. 

Saluez-vous les uns les autres par un baiser fraternel. Paix à vous tous, qui êtes dans le Christ.

Psaume Responsorial: Ton amour, Seigneur, sans fin je le chante !

Évangile selon saint Marc 16, 15-20 « Proclamez l’Évangile à toute la création » 

En ce temps-là, Jésus ressuscité se manifesta aux onze Apôtres et leur dit : « Allez dans le monde entier. Proclamez l’Évangile à toute la création. Celui qui croira et sera baptisé sera sauvé ; celui qui refusera de croire sera condamné. Voici les signes qui accompagneront ceux qui deviendront croyants : en mon nom, ils expulseront les démons ; ils parleront en langues nouvelles ; ils prendront des serpents dans leurs mains et, s’ils boivent un poison mortel, il ne leur fera pas de mal ; ils imposeront les mains aux malades, et les malades s’en trouveront bien. » 

Le Seigneur Jésus, après leur avoir parlé, fut enlevé au ciel et s’assit à la droite de Dieu. Quant à eux, ils s’en allèrent proclamer partout l’Évangile. Le Seigneur travaillait avec eux et confirmait la Parole par les signes qui l’accompagnaient.

Jésus, j'ai confiance en toi. Vierge Marie, priez pour moi. Saint Joseph, priez pour moi. Saint Marc, priez pour moi. Mon Ange Gardien prie pour moi.

In my name they will cast out devils

First ! Peter 5:5-14 My son, Mark, sends you greetings

All wrap yourselves in humility to be servants of each other, because God refuses the proud and will always favour the humble. Bow down, then, before the power of God now, and he will raise you up on the appointed day; unload all your worries on to him, since he is looking after you. Be calm but vigilant, because your enemy the devil is prowling round like a roaring lion, looking for someone to eat. Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that your brothers all over the world are suffering the same things. You will have to suffer only for a little while: the God of all grace who called you to eternal glory in Christ will see that all is well again: he will confirm, strengthen and support you. His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen. 

I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a brother I know I can trust, to encourage you never to let go this true grace of God to which I bear witness. 

Your sister in Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings; so does my son, Mark.

Gospel Mark 16:15-20 Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News

Jesus showed himself to the Eleven and said to them: 

‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation. He who believes and is baptised will be saved; he who does not believe will be condemned. These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’ 

 And so the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven: there at the right hand of God he took his place, while they, going out, preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the signs that accompanied it.

Jesus I trust in you. Virgin Mary pray for me. Saint Joseph pray for me. Saint Mark pray for me. My Angel Guardian pray for me.
