MARDI, 12ÈME SEMAINE DU TEMPS ORDINAIRE: AELF Première Lecture 2Rois 19,9b-11.14-21.31-35.36 « Je protégerai cette ville, je la sauverai à cause de moi-même et à cause de David » En ces jours-là, Sennakérib, roi d’Assour, envoya des messagers dire à Ézékias : « Vous parlerez à Ézékias, roi de Juda, en ces termes : Ne te laisse pas tromper par ton Dieu, en qui tu mets ta confiance, et ne dis pas : “Jérusalem ne sera pas livrée aux mains du roi d’Assour !” Tu sais bien ce que les rois d’Assour ont fait à tous les pays : ils les ont voués à l’anathème. Et toi seul, tu serais délivré ? » Ézékias prit la lettre de la main des messagers ;  il la lut. Puis il monta à la maison du Seigneur, déplia la lettre devant le Seigneur, et, devant lui, pria en disant : « Seigneur, Dieu d’Israël, toi qui sièges sur les Kéroubim, tu es le seul Dieu de tous les royaumes de la terre, c’est toi qui as fait le ciel et la terre.  Prête l’oreille, Seigneur, et entends, ouvre les yeux, Seigneur, et vois !

Are you likely to be spared?”’  Hezekiah took the letter from the hands of the messenger and read it; he then went up to the Temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord. Hezekiah said this prayer in the presence of the Lord, ‘O Lord of Hosts, God of Israel, enthroned on the cherubs, you alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth, you have made heaven and earth.  ‘ Give ear, Lord, and listen.  Open your eyes,

JE FAIS DE TOI LA  LUMIÈRE  DES NATIONS: AELF Première Lecture Isaïe  49,1-6 « Je fais de toi la lumière des nations » Écoutez-moi, îles lointaines ! Peuples éloignés, soyez attentifs ! J’étais encore dans le sein maternel quand le Seigneur m’a appelé ; j’étais encore dans les entrailles de ma mère quand il a prononcé mon nom. Il a fait de ma bouche une épée tranchante, il m’a protégé par l’ombre de sa main ; il a fait de moi une flèche acérée, il m’a caché dans son carquois. Il m’a dit : « Tu es mon serviteur, Israël, en toi je manifesterai ma splendeur. » Et moi, je disais : « Je me suis fatigué pour rien, c’est pour le néant, c’est en pure perte que j’ai usé mes forces. » Et pourtant, mon droit subsistait auprès du Seigneur, ma récompense, auprès de mon Dieu. I HAVE APPOINTED YOU AS PROPHET TO THE NATIONS: Universalis First Reading Isaiah 49:1-6  I will make you the light of the nations so that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth Islands, listen to me, pay attention, remotest peoples. The Lord called me before I was born,  from my mother’s womb he pronounced my name. He made my mouth a sharp sword, and hid me in the shadow of his hand. He made me into a sharpened arrow, and concealed me in his quiver. He said to me, ‘You are my servant (Israel) in whom I shall be glorified’; while I was thinking, ‘I have toiled in vain, I have exhausted myself for nothing’; and all the while my cause was with the Lord, my reward with my God. I was honoured in the eyes of the Lord, my God was my strength. And now the Lord has spoken, he who formed me in the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him, to gather Israel to him: ‘It is not enough for you to be my servant, to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back the survivors of Israel
