Christ, consubstantial Son of the Father, begotten before the dawn of day, and born in Bethlehem in fulfilment of the Scriptures, we ask you to make your Church a notable example of poverty and simplicity.

GRACIOUS ACT

FEAST OF HOLY FAMILY
You know the gracious act of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that for your sake he became poor although he was rich,
so that by his poverty you might become rich. 2 Cor. 8:9

Honour your father and mother, as the Lord, your God
has commanded you, that you may have a long life and
prosperity in the land which the Lord, your God, is
giving you.  Deut. 5:16

REFLECTION

Lord Jesus pour out special grace on all families on earth, especially husbands and wives. Show them how powerful you would want to work in them to create a better world.  May all families be like the Holy Family
of Nazareth.  Jesus, Mary and Joseph make our families like yours.

SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE

In times past, God spoke in partial and various ways to our ancestors through the prophets; in these last days, he spoke to us through a Son, whom he made heir of all things and through whom he created the universe.  Heb. 1:1-2

KNOWLEDGE

We have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding; so that you will grow in knowledge of God.  Col. 1: 9 and 10

this is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning,

GOD SAVED US BY HIS OWN COMPASSION

Remind your people that it is their duty to be obedient to the officials and representatives of the government; to be ready to do good at every opportunity; not to go slandering other people or picking quarrels, but to be courteous and always polite to all kinds of people. Remember, there was a time when we too were ignorant, disobedient and misled and enslaved by different passions and luxuries; we lived then in wickedness and ill-will, hating each other and hateful ourselves.

But when the kindness and love of God our saviour for mankind were revealed, it was not because he was concerned with any righteous actions we might have done ourselves; it was for no reason except his own compassion that he saved us, by means of the cleansing water of rebirth and by renewing us with the Holy Spirit which he has so generously poured over us through Jesus Christ our saviour. He did this so that we should be justified by his grace, to become heirs looking forward to inheriting eternal life.  Titus 3: 1-7

A PRAYER FOR HELP AGAINST SIN

I wish that a guard could be placed at my mouth, that my lips could be wisely sealed.
It would keep me from making mistakes and prevent me from destroying myself with
my own tongue.

O Lord, my Father and Master of my life, do not leave me at the mercy of my own  words, don't let them cause my downfall.  I wish I could be whipped for my thoughts, so that Wisdom could discipline my mind.  I would not want to be spared when I am
wrong; I would not want a single sin overlooked. Then I would not keep on sinning, making one mistake after another.  I could not fall to my enemies and be humiliated
by them.

O Lord, my Father, God of my life, keep me from being arrogant, protect me from
evil desires. Keep me from being overcome by greed or lust; do not leave me at the
mercy of shameless passions.   Sir. 22:27, 23:1-4

I will give them a single purpose in life to honour me for all time, for their own good and the good of their descendants.

I will make an eternal covenant with them.  I will never stop doing good things for them, and I will make them fear me with all their heart,  so that they will never turn away from me.

GOD'S UNFAILING LOVE

God's unfailing love and mercy still continue.
Fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise.
The Lord is all I have, and so I put my hope in him.

The Lord is good to everyone who trusts in him.
So it is best for us to wait in patience, to wait for
him to save us, and it is best to learn this patience
in our youth.

When we suffer, we should sit alone in silent patience.
We should bow in submission, for there may still be hope.
Though beaten and insulted, we should accept all.
The Lord is merciful and will not reject us for ever.
He may bring us sorrow, but his love for us is sure
and strong.
He takes no pleasure in causing us grief of pain.

Happy is the person who is generous with his loans,

He is not afraid of receiving bad news;
his faith is strong, and he trusts in the Lord....  Psalm 112

For Those Who Think

Lord for those who think they can succeed without you.
Can one ever think that he/she exist for himself
without the aid of God?
Father you are ever present whenever we call,
even when we do not.
Father you are with us always.

We make our plans, they come through,
We do not struggle for your favour,
yet you grant us your favours.
Father do we appreciate you,
and thank you for your providence?
Father do we say thank you for your love,
guidance, protection and mercy?
Father can we say thank you for
your watchful eyes over us?
For all your goodness and love,
Father most times we think they
are achieved through our efforts, and ingenuity.
